Hi,

i got i couple batteries questions:

  1. i might be purchased a NCRb 18650 52v 13.5Ah shark pack with "Long Range NCRB 13.5ah" option,
    from L***cycle.com .

    But I'm wondering if its enough POWER for the Bafang BBSHD?,



  2. there's an other option for that battery "High Power and Long Range GA 13.5ah"
    But they are currently out of stock,

    Should i wait for it to be available?



  3. and i got an other question (thanks in advance :) ),
    what do you think of the "Samsung 30Q, INR18650-30Q" (second option its to build my own pack)?,

The GA is supposed to be a great cell, with high capacity and high discharge. The BBSHD can pull a lot of watts if you climb hills or push the speed.

Spot welding is preferred to soldering. There are info videos on YouTube.

yes im planing on climb some hills and probably push the speed (if im refereeing to the way im driving my car, lol)
i will have between 50 to 60km to do with the battery

Paul at EM3ev uses the 30Q in his high capacity packs and he rates it a 5C. The 30Q has been around longer. I just bought a GA pack from Luna, should be here today, but it takes months to really know much.

If you need 60 km at 50 kph you probably need multiple packs. Luna has a 24 AH 50v pack with GA cells but, of course, it is out of stock. EM3ev has the 18 AH pack with the 30Q cells. You could build anything that would fit the ebike, or e-motorcycle. I would want a really good frame like the EEB to do this kind of thing.:)

Wait for the GA. It can handle the load without overheating.. I started a thread a couple months ago on all the new battery cells available.

i got a 50-60km distance to cover,
but i might not goes at 50kmh,
maybe like a regular fast speed, 30-35kmh (this is fast on a bike right?)

im still not sure waht to do, for sure i drop the "Long Range NCRB 13.5ah" option,

the only 2 options left if wait for the GA, or build my own,

do some one start building his own battery and find out its too hard or some thing wrong happen?,

Paul could any pack with 30Q or 32E cells. He doesn't use Panasonic as he thinks it has slightly shorter life compared to Samsung 32E's

He is also coming up with new sleek packs like the GA.

Yes, you would need high C for any riding at > 50kmphr
 
Those batteries will probably do that range, BUT not if you expect it to do the entire distance "wide open", AND probably not if you don't pedal some.

Side note question, you don't intend to do that distance daily ?

Last, there is absolutely no freekin' way you can build your own battery, and save one cent off the Luna price, not to mention it won't look near as nice as one of those "shark" packs. I looked seriously into doing it myself. You may save a few cents on the raw cells, but don't forget the extras, a BMS, nickel strips, shrink wrap, some kind of case ? Even if your time is worth nothing, you might as well do something other with your time that does not equal nothing....right ? Again I'll say it won't look as nice as a shark pack. Don't forget with all those connections there could easily be a "problem". You may have to order some of the components from different sources...=mulitple shipping costs, don't forget to add that. A completed, tested battery is the way to go.....unless just for the sheer pleasure of doing it yourself is a factor. Oh yeah don't forget to add the cost of making your own spot welder, or buying one of those. Soldering the batteries is just a bad idea, you may easily damage one, and won't know till it is way too late.

i got more info,

ok the main reason i want an ebike, its because my workplace its moving the a new building witch have no parking (there's parking but at 105$ per mouth),
so my plan its to travel by ebike for 4-5 month an take the subway for the rest of the year, i will save on gaz and parking space fee,
the way im planing (hope) to do it it to use only the electric motor (throttle) in the morning on my way to work and pedal plus the electric motor on my way back
and i want the BBSHD just because its more robust, better sealing and wont get too hot while climbing hill (almost all the way to the work their an elevation, at lest 2-3 very inclined street) ect,
not that much for the speed, sure i will probably test it, lol, but i think the 750 could be enough, but i prefer the BBSHD for the above reason :)

but i was thinking the new place was going to be around 20km from my home, so so i wanted a battery that can cover 40km to 50km (going and come back to work),
but now i know the exact location and its only 11km, and im thinking maybe i can charge the battery while im at work, that's enough time to charge the battery,

so I'm now considering the small pack at lunacycle, there's 3 pack option, i will put the pack in seat pouch
here;s the 3 pack,
  1. 52v Mighty Mini Cube Ebike Battery Pack Panasonic PF 6ah (Affordable!) 229$
  2. 52v Mighty Mini Cube Samsung Ebike Battery Pack 30q 6ah 299$

i place them by price order,
cant i get you input and do you think i can do what i'm hoping to do, (throttle all the wall, and mix pedal and throttle on my way back) with one of those small pack,
considering i can charge them at work and i only have to 11km (lest say 12 or 14 just to have a bit of room) to do,
maybe in that scenario the "Affordable" one will be able to get the job done, lol

i realize it might be confusing for some peaple, and changing the focus from the mian question

Your English is good, your math is bad.

You can buy the complete batt. from Luna for 399.00. that's 49.oo dollars the difference from your estimate, AND you didn't include shipping on the cells, Does the "skin" have a base ? etc, etc. you save nothing!

You don't have any warranty either with DIY, that's definitely worth something to most folks.

For the sane people reading you just can't build a battery cheaper than the Luna price. I'm done here.

Write a longer article, maybe you'll be right then.

well the battery i was going to, if you read at the top the main message was:

for a total of 545$
so again 545$ - 350$ =195$

shipping, well the battery also need to be ship, ok i dind go around everything to see the shipping cost,
and like i mention im not an Expert in anyway

and look i know Luna is ding Great deal,

I wish the GA cells had been around when I bought my Shark. During the windy season my packs get pushed pretty hard. If you ride up a long hill, into the wind, there is a lot of stress, especially as the battery runs down. I'd say that's a great choice.

the motor has also been shipped,
but i add to change my bike, the motor wont fit on the Opus,
i bought a Rocky Mountain Element (used), im sure it will fit,
there's already some one who did it with the same bike (YouTube)
