I just install this on and 8 speed and it is too fast in peddle assist. Even on 1 is there a way to tame it some?

My BBS02 750W C965 (noncolor) display came default with 3 level assist. I set mine to 9 levels, and then I could ride slower in PAS 1.

I haven't bothered with the programing cable.

Right, I did the same with my BBSHD and it worked as you indicated.
