Autobots- roll out. Hydra Prime. Finally shipping!

@Cuz Vinny - another reason it will not work is that the Dorado is 1-1/8 steerer tube, Hydra is 1.5 tapered..... (adapters??)

Cane creek makes a headset that will allow it to work. Technically it would work but it’s like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. IMO it’s not worth it and I’m not trying to MacGyver something on such a nice bike.

How does that work??? Per @pushkar this is a custom headset from FSA, using two different standard FSA headsets. He made the bottom wider to spread the load into a wider area for the carbon frames...

The Cane Creek headset has a custom bottom bearing that allows the use of a straight 1 1/8 steerer tube.

So the Cane Creek is wider at the bottom like the ones on the Hydra and Helios?!?! Is clear the Atom is 1-1/8.....

The Cane Creek uses a reducer bearing/race that fits in the larger/wider lower opening in the head tube and reduces it to 1 1/8. This way a 1 1/8 straight steerer fork can be used in a tapered head tube bike like the Hydra.

Dude- this is NOT the same thing nor what I reference. The Hydra and Helios head set consists of two different head sets (semi custom for WW!) and uses a wider bottom than top in a 1.5 inch steerer tube standard. What you recommend from Cane Creek is NOT the same as what Pushkar has designed into these bikes to give more strength....

Does anybody have any guesses as to what this fat tire Hydra weighs. Lots of carbon but the fat tires are not light. I’m thinking 62lbs

I’m not recommending anything. You asked how you could fit a straight steerer fork into a tapered head tube frame. Pushkar even said you could use the Dorado fork in the Hydra. Not sure what all the fuss is about.

The reason is you stated a Cane Creek “head set” not adapter.....

The adapter is part of a complete headset which includes an upper and lower.
Adapter is available by itself from many locations. How I figured out it was an adapter like I question marked in my first post to help you but you responded “head set”, thus my confusion and questions to clarify....

We need to get a pic up asap with 'normal' tires. Fat tire enthusiasts are excited about this first bike but the rest of us are very hungry to see something more 'balanced' and proportional. :)

Awe come on @reed scott just think of how smooth this ride would be on those rocks you call roads in the backyard you got! Congratulations to @pushkar for the new “Hydra Prime”! Though I prefer to call my configurations the “Fat Hydra” and “Hydra 29’er”...🤡
