Now that I'm riding longer steeper hills on my La Free, I've noticed that when I downshift while riding up, auto mode seems to drop out for a long enough time to put some strain on my knee - the bike becomes difficult to pedal for a minute or so until auto mode "recovers".
Had anyone else experienced this?
I'm wondering if the sudden change in cadence/torque caused by the downshift (yes, I am letting up on pedaling while shifting, as recommended) "confuses" the motor momentarily?
I've switched from using auto on hills to putting it in PAS 4 or 5, either of which seems to handle the downshifting much better... Is that the permanent solution?
