Attention Bafang rear hub motor owners

I just purchase a Bafang Rear Hub motor kit Ii notice that on a hill going at 5 miles the motor was drawing 694 watts on PAS 1 is this normal? any suggestions

Whether it's normal or not, it's happening.

What's the rating on your motor? If it's 500W, my opinion is you're going too slow and pulling too much power and risk overheating the motor. I'd shift down on the gears and pedal harder to help the motor out. Maybe approach that hill from the flat ground with a higher speed so you have momentum to help.Use higher pedal assist.

I've got a 500W bafang motor with a 25A controller on one bike that I don't ride much. Normal draw is 130-200 watts when cruising. I might see 900-1000 watts show up for a second when I hit the throttle, but we have no hills that require that kind of power.
