Anyone tried both an ST2 & A Kalkhoff S11 Integrale

Has anyone tried both of these Ebikes?

How would you compare them and which do you like better and why?

The ST2 is much faster. If you want to cruise at 28MPH, choose the Stromer. The Kalkhoff Integrale S11 is an amazing bike, too, however, it's better for cruising in the 20-24MPH range. Also, the S11 might climb really steep hills a bit better than the ST2, however, the ST2's additional power (up to 1200W at peak is ~2X the peak power of the Integrale) will allow it to climb milder hills faster than the S11.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I love that the S11 has a front suspension fork standard. The ST2 has an optional fork for $200+. The S11 is probably lighter, t0o.

In my opinion, the Integrale is just a little underpowered. My problem with the ST2 is that it doesn't come with a standard front suspension fork and it's really heavy.

Thank you for your response, How did you like the belt drive and shift system? How did the wifi capability compare? What about getting up to speed from a stop?

The belt drive is fantastic, however, the Shimano Alfine 11 is well known for not being a very reliable IGH. It's prone to mechanical failure, and it's difficult or impossible to change gears under load (when climbing a steep hill, for instance). In most circumstances, though, the Alfine 11 works just fine. The Alfine 8 gets better reviews from most cyclists, however, I believe the Alfine 8 has less of a gearing range...300% vs. the 11-speed's 400%.

I didn't try out the Bluetooth integration, unfortunately.

Both bikes are quick in getting up to speed, but I think the ST2 might be a tiny bit faster.

I've ridden both bikes and now own the S11. Both bikes are top of the line. I think Cameron's comments are very accurate...I hadn't heard anything about issues with the Alfine 11...but the comments about cruising speed and hill climbing are dead on.

I've found shifting is very smooth, consistent and reliable. Its great being able to shift while sitting still...the shift sensor's timing can easily be adjusted on the display. The belt drive is fantastic....quiet, smooth, no grease, low maintenance (although I don't look forward to having to mess with it on the road with a flat).

I much prefer the location of the display on th S11...it is very easy to read and places all kinds of information at your fingertips.

Someone wrote in the comparison section that the S2 is more like a motorbike with bicycle characteristics and the S11 is more like a bicycle with motorbike characteristics...I think that fits. It really is a matter of personal preference. As far as service...both Stromer and Kalkhoff have their North American headquarters within 25 miles of where I live so it was not a major factor in my deciding on one over the other.

I'm thrilled with my choice...the bike fits me very well (6'3" and 230)...my suggestion is to spent time in the saddle with each and buy the one that feels like it was made for you.
