Not too sure about the Amego thing. Rumors are Amego owner (Virginia) either helped facilitate the buy out of parts and IP, or partnered in some fashion with a new deeper pocket investor at Elby. Either way, it seems a long way off before daylight can be seen again on either Bionx, or Elby. Bionx lost 80 people, who were left to fend for themselves, and wont likely be ever going back. Buying some "IP" and maybe some factory machines, is a LONG WAY away from being able to produce product again. Maybe they can find some chinese factory capable of adopting some of what Bionx made, but that would take a long time in terms of engineering, setting up tooling, setting up processes for fabricating, re-aligning new sources of components and on and on. A LOT of money was spent and lost in the whole Bionx situation, so its very unlikely anyone would really be willing to re-invest what it would take to ever bring it back in the form that it was. And too many newer products and companies are out there, offering better performing products, at way better prices than Bionx ever could get to. The new investor(s) attempting to keep Elby relevant and afloat, has their hands full in terms of either re-designing their ebike for something other than Bionx product, or somehow re-surrecting a Bionx 'fit' to what they have now. Everything was unique about Bionx, and not compatible with anything else out there. their very wide diameter motors, intertwined into the spokes, was quite the odd breed. Not easy to manufacture, and not easy to ever fix. Just one example of a number of rather unique things about the product. And don't forget, in any bankruptcy, like Bionx had, a whole lot of suppliers who actually knew how to make the stuff Bionx utilized, probably were 'creditors' and got shafted in the process of Bionx not ever fully paying them for all the product supplied. My understanding is that millions were owed to various people. Can't imagine these suppliers, who were creditors, would be willing to just start supplying again, without some major cash given to them UPFRONT. Its a messy situation at best.
