Any thoughts on this $499 folding ebike?

Looks nicely built. Lights. Suspension fork. Nice seat. Even a side stand!
AND a folder...
$499? Not a chance in HELL..........................
$699 minimum by the time it's actually made.
But probably more like $899 or 999. ;)
This rates behind Sonders and his what $500? original price with 50+ mile range and 40?lb total weight?
Be really happy to be wrong..................... but doubt I will be.

Hi! I'm new here. I'm beginning my search for an ebike.

I saw this bike on this kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/936482995/amp-errand-electric-bicycle. Its called the AMP Errand Electric Bicycle, and it starts at $499.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I like the themes in that Kickstarter, especially the "errand" concept, since that is what I use my similar new e-bike for. See my video review here: https://electricbikereview.com/forum/threads/video-review-ultralight-24-lb-folding-e-bike.9419/#post-74726 As compared to the EBikeBC which I got last month, the AMP has one advantage and two drawbacks: On the plus side: easy battery change, which mine lacks. On the minus side: 1) No luggage carrier — for an "errand" bike! 2) Weight not specified, but has to be heavier than my ultra-lightweight. E.g., a few days ago I went to a church meeting, and since it was raining, I easily carried it down some steps to park in the basement.

In general, I like the style better on mine, which is sleeker, simpler, and smaller. Shipping was free to both US and Canada. But the AMP description matches the objectives which I sought in an e-bike.

You can buy the base version of the AMP Errand right now at a few different bike shops online for $699, so I definitely backed their kickstarter to get one for $499.

I'm in on the kickstarter. I do wish they offered fenders and rack as options, maybe they will in the future. I had been eyeing this bike at bikesxpress.com for a few weeks when I stumbled onto the kickstarter. You can buy one there right now for $699. That's for the base model in black, they haven't produced the upgraded model or colors yet.

250 watts seems a bit on the wimpy side, unless you are Pee Wee Herman or equivalent. I would want AT LEAST a 500W motor.
