I bought this bike some months ago after hip surgery and some knee pain started to limit my riding on the sundry hills in my hometown of Pittsburgh. I use this for urban riding and mix in some trails, gravel roads, and gravel trails. While not designed for trail riding - you can pick your way carefully down a mountain bike trail, or through a cow pasture, but it is not that nimble. This bike is a comfortable ride. I installed a red shift seatpost which is a nice addition and really helped while my hip was still tender. The tires are great for dry pavement but I did not have confidence in them on gravel - especially after dumping the bike on some loose gravel. (I walked off, luckily, thank you step through).
The most important upgrade for me was to replace the stock Schwalbe Efficiency with the Schwalbe Hybrid Johnny Watts Plus 365 tires. This tire provides nice traction and also handles pavement well. It is a really nice hybrid tire. I am thinking about a Jones Bar for this bike but that will apparently require longer cables and I am not up for that expense yet.
