Amazon Stops Selling Illegal eMotos in CA

States still in stock for a UART ULTRA

Off topic again. Just a quick aside. Why are females in films like Stormy Daniels now called 'Actors' but climate change is called 'Man-Made'? And why is an unidentified assailant called a 'gunman,' not gunperson? Are females exempt from climate change? The Texas hill country floods last year that killed the campers were caused by 20" of rain now they have 30".

I am on a local mission to show parents how to check their kids brakes. Seriously, half the kids out there on eBikes are riding with no brakes. 750W is fine. It peaks much higher.

I'm just guessing, but I'm thinking resellers and Bafang prefer CanBus because it's locked, so people can't turn it up to Full Blast, burn it out, then request a refund.

Apparently the Ultra is still "pretty aggressive out of the box" even with the CanBus programming?

I bought a UART so I could turn it down.
Sure, I can turn it up and do wheelies and burnouts, but I'm gunna save that power for PAS mode #9
I don't want it in Every PAS mode.

My first ebike had 5 or 6 PAS modes.
The first PAS mode was ~23 kph. Way too fast for number one.
And it Surged with FULL Power to get there.
Fricken stupid, so I installed a KT controller and display.

So many unanswered question, like why are panties plural while brassiere is singular?

While you're at it, why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

When I worked for the old Bell System back in the 1970's, there was actually a lawsuit filed to change "manhole" to "person hole" It was thrown out of court.

But more importantly, how important IS bran fiber? My ultra is a beast and I'd love to be able to tone it down in the lower PAS modes but I don't think that's possible with canbus. I think if I nailed the touchy throttle in ANY gear it would snap the chain so that's another thing I'd like to tune

Noah had a pair of every beast and bird on his boat.

No mention of a wife though?

Women are only needed to make more boys.

They can't even fly a plane properly.
Amelia Earhart still hasn't found her way home yet.

I'm pretty sure a simple engine swap will fix your problem?

I'm pretty sure that it would be a simple plug and play installation?

Then you can get one of these, and set it up to your liking,..

Note the green 5-pin UART connector,..

You'll probably need a UART display to go with it?

EDIT: You can probably keep your current motor, and just swap out your controller with a UART version?
And a new display.

As a warning... Don't ever go into a bar with Manhole in the name 🙃

I don't know what e-bike you've got, but you'll have to install it.

Yoy can use your CanBus cable to pull your UART cable through the frame if the cable it's routed that way.
(you connect the ends of the cables together with shrink tube so you can pull the new cable into place.)

Not worth converting a CANbus motor... to much to buy separately (internal sensors) and that can go wrong.
Only way I would do it would be to buy the complete motor kit and swap it out. Plug/Play.
This would also leave you with a complete motor as a back up.

,.. I think if I nailed the touchy throttle in ANY gear it would snap the chain so that's another thing I'd like to tune

I set PAS mode one to 1 amp, so ~50 Watts.
And it also applies to my throttle.

Then I ramped up power slowly to PAS mode 9 at 18 amps.

The throttle is limited by the PAS mode so Maximum throttle is different for every PAS mode.

I won't hesitate to start from a stop in top gear on my freewheel and my 52T chainring with full throttle in PAS mode 1.

If 50 Watts isn't enough to rotate the wheel, then the power shuts off in a few seconds (I'm pretty sure? I haven't stalled the motor yet.)

And I'm not going to break a chain or burn out my controller with a 50 watt output.

My throttle is set to full power (28a) for all PAS. But between lowering the start current and using the twist throttle that is more precise in delivery I've never had a problem. Of course you can hammer it if you wanted.

I won't be trying to convert my canbus to uart and I'm also not ready to drop 800 bucks on a new motor but it's good to know that's possible in the future, if needed. WIth 3,500mi. on the bike (Rize RX) I've become pretty skilled w/ the throttle which I rarely use anyway. I'm happy w/ all the PAS modes so it's really just the throttle that upsets a great system. Many badmouth the Rize RX and although it doesn't use top shelf components, I've had zero issues with it now in it's third year. Cheap spring fork, single piston brakes etc. but as an urban commuter, it's been great for me. After riding a 250 watt Yamaha mid drive on a Haibike for 3 years, the Rize is a joy but for sure the Haibike was/is higher quality.

The PAS modes took some getting used to. The Haibike was much more "natural" That said, I'm happy with the PAS modes but would like to tone them down in the lower levels and reduce the motor after run time. I don't think this is possible with canbus tuning at this time or if it is, it's complicated and expensive. We have so much wildfire smoke in northern MI right now, I'm not able to ride w/o a N95 mask and even then, my eyes sting for a long time afterwards. I paid too much for the bike but I just had to have that Bafang Ultra motor and it puts a smile on my face every time I ride it

Just checked my notes.
>7000mi on my e8 chain since Sept 2024 and still not at 0.75 stretch. Since my Rohloff is a single sproket in the rear the chain is safe to use to 1.0 stretch.
And same goes for my $8 Ali_aluminum 44t chainring that is still silent and without a single drop.
The Ultra is a beast...but not abusive when tamed.

Tuning down the lower PAS has many benefits. Besides efficiency and battery life it's more natural and very easy on the drive train.

This is a simple and inexpensive upgrade that might make your throttle feel A Lot better,..

I just found this on AliExpress:
Half-Twist Throttle for Bafang 3PIN Female Speed Throttle for BBS01B BBS02B BBSHD Mid Drive Motor EBike Conversion Kits

I intend to simply Hammer the throttle and hold on on full, then rattle through the PAS modes to increase my power/speed.
