Alternative Repair Stand

Has anyone tried using a hitch mounted "hanging style" rack as a repair stand?

My normal rack is platform style, but I am sure I can pickup a cheap used device like below for not a lot of $$.

No, it is not as functional as a proper stand, but it would elevate the bike and allow for some simple maintenance like chain cleaning and lubrication.

I eventually found one for $30 CDN, but it was in fact a better option as it was the type you bolt down rather than insert into a receiver.

I have some salvaged office storage units that are quite heavy and have really solid tops, so simply drilled a hole for a 1/2" bolt with large washers.

Bike sits a bit high for me, and with this bum shoulder it's not the easiest to get up there, but I was able to manage a test fit.
The heavy unit the rack is bolted to didn't budge, even though it's tot attached to anything.

I think I'm going to have to a minor rearrangement of my table and mitre saws to allow me to pedal - but I've plenty of room if I declutter. For messy drivetrain maintenance, I have an adjustable height workmate style table and a shallow plastic pan that can be set underneath the work area to limit the mess.

When not in use, I'll simply swivel it out of the way.

Investment was quite low, and if it proves to not work to my satisfaction, I can probably sell the rack in the spring for more than I paid for it.
Got it off of Facebook Marketplace and it was a 5 minute drive to pick it up.

I almost bought one a few months ago that actually came with both the car hitch adaptor, AND a floor stand for the garage. Thought it might make a neat dual use item, but in the end I just didn't have confidence in it's weight capacity for the car, and loading on a platform carrier is just so much easier, so I went another way.

I do think they are so cheap and plentiful on the used market that they could make great options for fixed/swiveling wall mounts in the garage though.

Saw this one on Facebook. Self built - pretty sweet.
Apologies to non-facebook members as I don't know if you will be able to see this or not.
