Here is my wife with my 83 year old buddy Ken when he is buying his first ebike.. Ken hasn't ridden a bike in 70 years and is absolutely loving his new bike. He did crash a few weeks ago but it didn't slow him down at all and he's become quite proficient at riding

The crash was almost comical. He came to a complete stop and forgot to put his feet down. It was a panic situation though. He drifted to the wrong side of the bike path going around a blind corner and met someone head on coming the other way. There was no collision but he still fell off with resulting bloody elbow, bruised ego etc.

That made my day.

The midwest heat wave broke for us around 5PM and when the wind tuned east and the temperature dropped 16 degrees to 80F, we went off for a 75 minute ride.

@DDBB

You make sure to tell Ken to keep up the good work, well done.

Just wish that when i get to be his age i`m still able to keep my balance....

:cool:All the best to you Ken :cool:

Ken is not computer savvy or I'm sure he'd contribute. He's a great guy. His wife died of cancer years ago and he lives alone. My wife and I try to include him in a lot things we do and he's up for just about anything. I talked him into buying the ebike and he's loving it, riding 10mi. a day (or further when we take trips) His biggest complaint is being saddle sore but like everyone else, as the summer goes on and he rides more, there is less complaining. He stays in ECO mode a lot so he can get a workout.

I love seeing post like this. Just confirms that you don't have to be young to get on a bike and ride just like the rest of us. I'm sure this helps add to a longer life as well. I hope i can still ride at his age but that's 23 years away:)

Bought my full suspension E Mountain bike 2 years ago at 80. Still go out on a group ride at least once a week and every 4 to 6 weeks lead a group an hour away to a local mountain bike park. There are 58 tracks there graded 1 to 6 and I'm happy up to 2.5.
If you start worrying about how old you are.......it's too late

Kudos, good for you and I wish I lived near that park.

The trails we ride are here: check out 'trailforks' and search for Mountain bike Rotorua (whakarewarewa) There's a video here
Most of the trails these guys are riding are grade 4 and above. the one at 7.38 is one of the ones we do. Not as fast. The video was made in 2014 and the forest had been cut-over. there has been a lot of regrowth since then.
