60 mile long dedicated bicycle highway being built in Germany

Thanks for sharing this story. Sometime back I remember hearing about a commuter path like this being built, between Dallas and Fort Worth Texas.

Germany is incredibly well sourced in respect of cycle routes. Not traffic free, but there are 90 dedicated routes around the country, and many of the rides are between 500 -800 miles long.

Poor image from my guide.

Are those all routes with bike lanes or along bike paths, or just suggested routes along existing roads?

It's a mix of everything really, but mainly lovely peaceful rural country roads.

The routes pick out sites of special interest, beauty spots, villages, parks, rivers, lakes, museums etc..

I need to hurry up and retire. :)

I just rode my ebike 20 miles and was never more than 3 miles from my house by taking almost every side street I could. Except for a few miles on the main highway which has a nice wide bike lane, I hardly encountered any cars. It is a treat living in a more rural area.
