Thoughts on the Trek Powerfly 4 Gen 4 vs Gen 3

I am considering a 2023 PowerFly 4 Gen 4 Hardtail. Will be riding mostly on rail trails and greenways - a variety of surfaces including some major potholes - along with some straighforward trails in the woods. Member thoughts/feedback on this bike appreciated.

I am not enamored with the color choices of the Powerfly 4 Gen 4 and have found a new Powerfly 4 Gen 3 in stock in a color that I like at a shop within 1.5 hrs of my house. All the geometry and most of the specs are the same for the Gen 3 and the Gen 4; main difference seems to be that the Gen 4 has the new Bosch "Smart System" which seems like a nice upgrade but I'm not really sure how much I will use all of the features. Plus I will get the Gen 3 at a significant discount since it's a closeout. Does anyone moved from a prior Bosch system - the Gen 3 has the Bosch "Purion" - to the Bosch Smart System and would have some thoughts to share?

If you like to buy obsolete things go for the Gen 3.
