2022 700 model battery change?

I was notified by Ride1Up today, March 3, that my 700 model is being shipped and will arrive next week.

I immediately logged onto their website to order an extra battery for the 700 as I frequently ride distances requiring two batteries.

On the battery page for the 700, I encountered the following message:
700 SERIES BATTERY
(14 Customer Reviews)
This battery will not fit most 2022 models. For
New 700 Series Bikes, please verify your
battery model before ordering.

I have an email into sales to see what is going on. Has Ride1Up changed what battery the 700 series uses? Are there any other changes to the 2022 700?

Saw this posted over on the Ride1Up FB group also.

I can confirm the battery change for the newest Ride1Up 700 series. I received the bike today and unpacked everything with the expectation of assembly tomorrow.

Not able to determine the manufacturer or model of my battery other than to report it is now rated for 15AH instead of 14. See the attached photo.

Another change I noted was the motor has changed from a Shengyi to a Bafang. I have attached a couple pics of the motor.

A report will be forthcoming regarding how the assembly goes and first ride impressions.

Thank you, what case does it have now?
Is it still Reention?
I’ve got a suspicion it’s the same battery used in the new Cafe Cruiser. From the Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser website:

Battery
48V15ah Reention Rhino, 39 x 21700 Samsung Cells

It also shows the Cafe Cruiser to use a 60NM 750 watt sustained Bafang motor and that’s what I’ve got on my new 700 model, not the Shengyi.

It is the same Reention that the Cafe Cruiser uses. Ride1Up told me to order that battery as my 2nd one. It is currently on back order, due to ship in April for $489.00.

They told me the Bafang 500 watt motor is an equal swap for the Shengyi. After a quick ride after assembly tonight the 700ST appears it’s not quite as peppy as my friends 700 with the Shengyi. I will have to ride more next week to confirm that. We’re due for a snowstorm of several inches here in WV over the weekend.

Solidly built, good components it’ll make a good complement to my Specialized Como 4 stepthru.

I have a one year old 700 with the Shengyi. The power output will change with the charge on the battery and the power percentage setting for the PAS assist level you are using. I have my highest assist level set to 100%, and with a good charge (yet not full charge), it will max out my power meter on the display to 999 watts. In lower assist levels or with a low battery, it will be much less.

There are 2 sizes of this battery. IR-5 and IR-7. The IR-5 is the original size, it measures like this…

Does the new battery measure the same? I’ll bet that the newer battery will measure longer.

The 500s have less options than ever. There used to be 3 Ahs, 13,16.7, and 17.5. Now only the 16.7 remains. One of the main reasons I went with Ride1Up was long term support as opposed to Amazons fly by night 3rd party sellers. When I bought the Ride1Up spare battery prices from Rad were high and Juiced were obscene. That was the factor that tipped it to Ride1Up. I hope I didn't make a mistake

If you'd like a battery upgrade/replacement, then you should reach out to @Jenny Mao . She has quite a rep here. I would reach out to her, if I were in the market for a new battery. She would, most surely, have a replacement for you.

The battery is indeed switched from Reention Rhino IR-5 to IR-7 version on 700 series.
IR-5, 363x74x99m, 52pcs 18650, 48V 14Ah max.
IR-7, 441x74x99mm, 70pcs 18650 or 42pcs 21700, 48V/52V 17.5Ah by 18650, or 48V/52V15Ah by 21700.
IR-21700, 441x80x108mm, 60pcs 21700, 48V/52V 20Ah max by 21700.
(Length is measured as plastic cover length.)
