2019 Ultra 1000: Excellent!!

Had a fantastic first morning ride today, after getting it all set up yesterday and nearly wiping out with an unexpected wheelie... Wow! Huge upgrade in power for me. The throttle definitely works!

Set up with 45NRTH 3" Wrathchilds, to be studded on Monday. Brooks Cambium C17, Outbound Lighting big light, and Bafang integrated little light. Relatively stock cockpit for now with some Redmonkey grips.

Performance wise: Blown away with the power and efficiency! I drove faster and harder this morning (better technical handling and grip) compared to other ebike, and used substantially less battery power to do so. I will try to measure and quantify this when I get a chance, but it was, for my typical ride, 2 volts less battery drain for the same route, and I rode it faster than typical (I commute daily year round).

Other notes: Much better stock fork than typical for RST. Has a proper lockout, and while it's still a coil fork, it's the best one I've ever used... May still upgrade it, maybe not. Also extremely impressed with the SRAM EX1 drivetrain, great shifting. Tektro Auriga hydraulic brakes function flawlessly as well.

To funny I just got my Outbound Light the other day. Have not had a chance to get out with it. Did you go for the Road version or the off Road version? I went with the Road version myself so when I am riding on streets Im not blinding cards and people ahead.
 
I have the trail version, and run it relatively low aim-wise. Great light. Gives me a big well-lit area area, everyone definitely sees me (but not high enough to piss anyone off). Have a Meilan tail light as well which is very visible.
 
I came back today and looked at your picture. You taught me how to mount my battery pack. Thats awesome and I never would of thought of doing it that way =)

Yep it fits great there!

Mid winter update: Bikes been fantastic so far, for a bit better cold weather comfort I swapped the handlebars to Chromag Cutlass (Carbon Fiber). Have ridden past -50C, should pass -60C with windchill this week. Everything functioning as intended. Also have a wicked little invention in play now which makes for super-fast gear changes:

DC Tell me more about this Clutch Lever. So you push in the clutch before you switch gears is that the gist of it? Does it operate just like a clutch should? How did you hook that up to your motor?
 
You got it! So what I did was take an existing ebrake, remove the lever, printed a short single finger one, added a tension spring, and used its existing brake cutout switch, taking over the front brakes disconnect.

Since it's also higo connector, I simply unplugged the front brakes disconnect and taped it off, then plugged in the clutch in place of it. Added perk that I can hold the front brake without cutting motor power, in case I feel like doing a burnout (or an endo hahaha)

Also since it's an electronic interrupt, you can maintain throttle and simply hold the clutch for a moment during a gear change, or my preference, rip the throttle before gear change -> let off throttle and hold the clutch for a second while changing gears -> right back on the throttle for that sporty rip to top speed.

Got super used to the clutch in just short bit of riding, and now, I would never go without it on a mid-drive bike. Beats any gear sensor for sure. After all, we're already gear-changing manually and using thumb/twist throttles (on top of two PAS modes), why not have the full sporty manual experience? I absolutely love riding this thing.
