2019 Homage

@Alaskan at this moment it’s not an option to retrofit. I would give it a little bit of time to see if this is a possibility. I know the demand is there, but we can’t request these sorts of things yet and I’m not sure if they would technically allow it. They might need to do some testing first which I’m not sure will happen for a while since there R&D team is pretty busy with the new model year at the moment.
It appears that the new homage now uses the same, or a very similar three-sided, rear swing arm as the delight. If the frame is unchanged where the arm pivots and attaches to the rear shock, it shouldn't require any significant additional testing. When would you recommend as a good time to approach R&M about this.

@Alaskan I actually just heard from my contact at R&M and it's actually not compatible since the frame is different as well. In theory, the Delite might be, but the Homage has a completely different frame now and it's not compatible.

It does not look like a possible retrofit. From the photos of the new Homage it seems to have a break in the frame to allow the gates continuous belt to be installed.
I am not seeing any differences in the frame between the 2018 homage and the new one.

What appears to have changed is that the new swing-arm/chain-stay is now the same or similar to that of the Delight. It has a short side added at the rear hub giving it three sides rather than two sides like last year's model. This drops the lower bar and allows for the insertion of an idler pulley and so that the belt run clear and level to the rear sprocket. The small idler pulley guides the belt up and over the lower bar or chain-stay of the swing-arm.

As I see it, unless the lower pivot point and the upper attachment point to the rear shock are not the same distance apart it should be possible to swap out the swing-arms and accommodate a belt drive on the older homage.

What am I missing?

I emailed R&M about Gates on the 2017 Delite and here's what they say:

Dear Dimitri,
thanks for your Email,
indeed some pictures from Eurobike do show that something like this might come.
Please understand that at the current moment we cannot comment any new products from Eurobike. The official information to Consumers will be announced on September 1st.
This year Eurobike was a show directed to the Press and to Dealers.

What we can already say is that we have some changes on that bike, but older versions cannot be retrofitted because we had to do some modifications on the rear of the bike. The parts are also not available on the aftermarket.

It’s not easy to tell from the photo but the mounting points are indeed different. Beyond that it’s not possible to purchase the swing arm as an aftermarket part which I just confirmed. Sorry I don’t have better news for you.

  • I've posted some photos and information of R&M's 2019 Culture and Nevo models on EBR Forum's Step-Thru thread.
  • It appears that the Delite, New Charger and Supercharger will stay substantially the same in 2019, but with Rohloff E-14 replacing the twist shifter. There is also a new model, the Multicharger.

  • Note comments concerning ABS - only Europe and not Rohloff.
  • No mention of suspension upgrade option.
  • The pdf below is R&M's Open Spaces (in German).

Can anyone comment on the 2019 Homage's wheels and tyres. Based on the photos, it appears...
  • GX Rohloff and GT Vario have the same wheel size (584 mm)
  • GX Rohloff has Rock Razor tyres (60-584 as 2018 Delite MTB Rohloff?)
  • GT Vario has Super Moto-X tyres (62-584 as 2018 Homage GT Nuvinci?)
Here are some links that might be useful...

From the R&M model review neither the Homage or Nevo is available with the Rohloff and Bosch HS motor combination. Is the HS motor not compatible with the E-14?

The 2019 Homage is now listed for purchase on R&M's website .
  • No suspension upgrade option.
  • Does anyone know about the Kiox display?
  • Any colour you want so long as it's deep sea blue. Seriously, is this an assembly line choice?

Was the Kiox display available?
Diongi ...
I ordered the Homage with the two available options - dual battery and Kiox display. My Bosch experience is limited to the Performance CX motor matched with a Purion display which is best described as "basic" - it gets the job down but mainly it keeps the price down.

There is a little more information - and a lot more marketing spiel - on the Bosch website. Hopefully, someone (Alaskan?) can assist with a knowledgeable comparison.

Update: Court has just added a thread Bosch Announces New Kiox Ebike Display .

The Kiox unfortunately is not an option for the 2019 Nevo GX Rohloff. I was looking for the added cadence and heart rate data rrecording feature. I also ordered the dual battery.
