Supercommuter+ 8S Recall, Front Fender Bolt, $100 Reward for Bringing Bike In

For whatever reason, the dealer did not report the fix to Trek. Trek explained to me that the dealer is paid for the warranty work by Trek and in order to get those funds, and in this case, the credit, they must submit the work with my serial number. Why they didn't have that, I don't know. They...

Supercommuter+ 8S Recall, Front Fender Bolt, $100 Reward for Bringing Bike In

Ended up calling Trek again. Got an actual human who understood what was going on. My dealer had not returned my four phone calls. Over $100 that Trek was giving him. Despite me buying 4 bikes from him including the 8S. Trek told me he would be calling and, while sounding less than happy, he...

My Super Commuter 8S Rear Bag Solution

I have the same bag and rack. I had previously asked a local metal shop about doing something very similar. After this post, pretty sure I can do it myself.

    Derestrict your Bosch/Trek e-bike?

Have you taken your bike in for service? Any issues with updates?

Supercommuter+ 8S Recall, Front Fender Bolt, $100 Reward for Bringing Bike In

I live in Paradise. My choices, within reasonable driving distance, are limited. The only other Trek dealer is not setup to service e-bikes.

Supercommuter+ 8S Recall, Front Fender Bolt, $100 Reward for Bringing Bike In

Brought mine in and asked the dealer. They said it was between Trek and me. Called Trek and the mumble-mouth that took the call eventually told me I needed to talk to the dealer. Took me 10 more minutes to get him to call the dealer. I'll call them tomorrow. Poorly orchestrated.

Time to bring mine in anyway. After 8 months of waiting to get home, Red needs a checkup and to get back on the road! Now to avoid all the debris trucks... At least 4 miles of the bike trail have been cleared!

    What's your mileage? (I hit 4900mi on 12-31-18) 1yr, 5mo. 9 days

Since I only was able to ride one more month, only have 965 on the bike now. Hoping I can ride sometime in the next eight weeks.

Added a seat post rack but it's not ideal. Beats riding with the pannier everywhere tho. I'll get some better final pics tomorrow. Time to ride a bit today.

I'm switching today to 50/60 combo. Hopefully it works. On another note, as I'm about 250lbs, I felt I was maxing out the Kinekt and discovered they'd created an XL version. Installed yesterday and wow. Fantastic. I also had Ergon GP5 grips installed today. Hoping those will alleviate the...

Any idea what combination of elastomers you're running in your RedShift? Mine seems very stiff and I'm thinking of installing softer.

    Losing proposition dealing with Bosch

I thought I had a problem with my Super Commuter and used Twitter and Facebook messenger to contact both Trek and Bosch and found both to be extremely responsive (within hours). Since the advent and increasing importance of social media, I've used the public route to corporate help a number of...

    What's your mileage? (I hit 4900mi on 12-31-18) 1yr, 5mo. 9 days

Purchased on 6/30. 835 miles as of yesterday. Trying to ride every third day with each ride longer than the last. Right now, the only way to accomplish that is riding 2500' down and ten miles before putting in the miles and then climbing back home.

    Riding in the rain

"Do you have a user's manual for your bike, a web page to check, or tech support you can contact with your questions about how your bike will do in wet weather?" All the above. Prefer real world user experience to manufacturer claims. I'm still under warranty, so I'll look at the warranty...

I found my light mount at a store in the UK. Took about five days. Just do a search on the part. Some of the smaller shops list things as in-stock because the site isn't tied to actual stock levels.

    Riding in the rain

Winter is coming. More than just the words of the Stark House on GoT, it's really just around the corner. I've been riding four to five days a week this summer and would like to continue. Do I risk my motor and battery? If need be, I'll wrap it all in Saranwrap - but do I need to?

Even with the new stem, I'm thinking Ergon GP5 grips might be a good idea. The numbness drives me crazy.
