    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

I have one. It's definitely pretty cheap. If you are fairly comfortable tuning up your bike though, it's not unredeemable. Plenty of power. I don't think I could have easily put together the parts for the price. Even if I end up replacing a few things I think it was a good purchase for my needs...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

Sorry, federal regulations didn't change every month. But I have no doubt you are getting new and probably different and conflicting information far more frequently than that. And I am sure you guys are busting your tails WAY more than you ever expected to to get this done, so carry on and best...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

Even after being burned by Indiegogo before I went against my best judgement and funded this one at the $499 level. I liked that the guy came on here and answered questions, and how they optioned up with things people asked for and got this pretty close to the bike I've been looking for. I am...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

The Alibaba bike also has a 250W motor listed with an upgrade available to 500W. I have no doubt the Wave guys found something on Alibaba that was close to what they wanted and negotiated specific changes (like the 750W motor) from there. It only makes sense. Not sure why that makes it a bad...

    CF: A Better Model

Agree. My $0.02 1) Dillenger Cheetah "B+" - mostly because of the price. I bought one for around $450 delivered with fenders, horn, light, panniers, spare battery. Fit and finish, paint, etc are every bit as good as an iZip or Pedego. It came out of the box and went together in 10 minutes...

    Severe Invasion of Privacy

Wow. Where is this LBS? Sounds like they deserve a plug by name. If I got treated like that instead of just hard sold on inventory or credit checked to do a test ride I would definitely have gone with an LBS purchase instead of CF.

Assuming that's Baltimore, MD I'll ping you when my Wave gets here. I'm in Canton downtown.

    CF: A Better Model

Trying to build a new bicycle company in the traditional model is a pretty tall and risky order. There has to be a huge investment to purchase enough stock to spread around enough LBSs to get some notice and start building a brand. You either have to fund that inventory yourself or give the LBS...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

Well I just maxed out my perks with the six-speed cassette, disc brake, and LCD controller. $903 all in. This is now pretty close to exactly the bike I wanted. Big gamble. I hope you're wrong stevenast. If I'm right I'll have the equivalent of a $3500 e-bike for under $1k.

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

I agree that this is an issue. But I eventually decided I'd rather have the 750W x 48V assist than the gears if I had to choose. If I lived in San Francisco instead of Baltimore it would probably be a different story. It does mean that if I ride to the limit it's going to be a heavy, long walk...

    eBike for the Big Man?

I'm in the same boat and after being all over the place between expensive commercial bikes that weren't quite what I wanted and the daunting project of doing a one-off self build I decided to start big in specs and small in price and went with the Wave on Indiegogo. 48V 15Ah w/ 750W rear hub...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

I want to get an e-bike that I think will have the size, power and range to haul my 6'2" 300# butt around a few miles. I am not really sure how much I'll use it, so I don't want to spend thousands of dollars and have it collecting dust until I finally get rid of it at a huge loss in a few...

stevenast - you may well end up being right about this bike / campaign, but at this point you're basically down to trolling the thread.

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

I went to my LBS a couple of months ago and test rode an IZIP E3 Zuma (I think that was the model). Throttle was on/off not variable (horrible!), and it was generally an unimpressive ride to me. Fit and finish, paint, etc. on my $400 Dillenger Cheetah are every bit as good as on the IZIP...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

Clearly these packs have been sold for much more up to now. The question is: if they ever were, are those prices still justified? If not (and it sounds like that may well be the case), who is paying all that markup and should be revolting? E-bike manufacturers? E-bike dealers? Consumers...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

Move the motor to the front wheel (or better yet, the crank) and put 8 gears in the rear hub with belt-drive! :-) To beat a horse I already killed on the campaign comments, make puncture resistant tires and slimed tubes an available upgrade. Taking the back wheel off this thing to repair a...

the 15.4Ah battery is a $45 upgrade. I included that and the $35 charger upgrade in my math.

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

Time was running out to get the $499 bike, so I bit. Kills me to send money Indiegogo's way, but this is about as close to what I was looking for I've seen for under $3K. If they offer a geared version it will be pretty much just what I was looking for. 48V 15.4Ah battery and 750W motor, crank...

    Wave E-bike 499$ (another Storm/Indiegogo)

I've funded a couple of things on KS successfully but been burned by Indiegogo so I'm not real crazy about doing business through them. I funded an Indiegogo campaign that was a known (to them) third repeat of a scam. I'm going to be very wary about doing it again and as such can't post a...
