    Upgrades to my XM700+

It was swollen out by about 1.5" or more after the Mtn bike accident. My hip is still slightly deformed after that, which looks worse after the head-on car crash the next year, that left me with 5 broken ribs, two left ankle surgeries in the first month, one right knee surgery, and two left...

    Upgrades to my XM700+

Yeah - here's some of the bruises and scrapes from that downhill ride ride, as well as the views with my son. You can see I've got an O2 nasal cannula under my nose. The camelback was too small and the tank was sticking out of the top.

    Upgrades to my XM700+

Well, I'm not out there going bat $hit crazy on trails these days, I like the uphill flow on dirt trails more than the speed on the way down. In 2014 I had a pretty gnarly off trail excursion downhill at Steamboat Springs after riding the Gondola up and then riding a rental FS mtn bike back...

    Upgrades to my XM700+

My issues was before my crash and went away with a new chain. But in my case the stuck links did not include the master link.

    Upgrades to my XM700+

It started dropping the second month I had it around 150 miles and I brought it in as it got worse over the next 100 miles. With the next chain the problem hasn’t come back after almost 600 miles.

    Upgrades to my XM700+

On my Powerfly 7 it was dropping the chain with the smaller sprockets because the chain links were stuck and it wouldn’t bend tight enough to go around the sprocket. The LBS replaced it under warranty at about 250 miles.

The price of eBikes is out of control

Holy Cow! For only 10% more money than my Trek Powerfly 7 + my wife's Neko+ I could have bought a new 2017 Yamaha FZ6R motorcycle street bike!! I'm such a fool. 2017 FZ6R - The FZ6R offers a great combination of performance, handling and exciting sportbike style with confidence-inspiring low...

Is there a bike that lasts after extended use?

Wow, I've only managed a little over 500 miles since March, with the bike down for a month after a wreck over Memorial Day weekend. I get out about once or twice a week for recreation and average about 70 miles a month - I bought it mostly to ride with my wife on weekends.

Need help with MA electric bike laws

Low Speed Electric Bicycle If all of the following apply, a bicycle will be deemed a “low-speed electric bicycle” under Federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2085) and will not have to be registered with the RMV:  Has two or three wheels  Has fully operable pedals  Has an electric motor of less than 750...

    Trek Powerfly 7, 2017

Bosche makes a big deal about “uphill flow” and for a reason - I actually like to ride up the single tracks in low gear and turbo assist power level, because the Powerfly 7 climbs like a tractor. I’m still a bit scared to just fly downhill at speed and kill myself too. But we ride the Santa Fe...

Need help with MA electric bike laws

You should be okay on all streets, just watch for signs on bike trails or bike paths that might restrict the use of eBikes. For off road use you'll likely need to contact the local jurisdictions and find out if the park or trails you want to ride on are restricted. Often BLM trails and...

Need help with MA electric bike laws

As far as I know the RadRover is a class two eBike and according to federal law it is NOT a motor vehicle and is to be treated as a bicycle and does not need to be licensed. If I recall the federal law says it superceeds any state law in that mater. States can still regulate where an eBike can...

    Bike damage after an accident

You have to be on the offense like I said above. You have to dictate to their insurance company what you expect and stick to your guns. When my 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS was totaled in 2014 after a careless driver hit myself and my eldest daughter head on, I got to experience firsthand in...

    RadCity First 100 Miles

That's too bad - we have over 500 miles on our Trek eBikes and they advertise puncture resistant tires - so far no flats on all kinds of surfaces. Is there a resource here with a list of good puncture resistant tires for the online community to choose from?

    Bike damage after an accident

I'd love to see a photo of the destroyed rack with the bikes still on it from right after the accident. You should be sure to have one for their insurance, showing what kind of impact the hitch with bikes took.

    Bike damage after an accident

Ask the other guys insurance to replace the bikes and hitch, and if they refuse then make them pick the bikes up and take them to be serviced, and ask for a detailed report about things like internal motor inspection and frame alignment, etc. And make sure you have the option to have the bikes...

    Trek Powerfly 7, 2017

PS: at 450 miles I rotated the rear tire to the front, where the front looks new and the rear was 1/2 way worn out in the center. I should get another 300-400 miles from the most worn tire that's now up front, and another 500+ from the other that is now in the rear. I'm at over 500 miles now...

    Trek Powerfly 7, 2017

I've taken the Powerfly 7 onto several gravel trails and it's pretty stable at 40psi tire pressure, although if you get into some deep soft <1/8" pea-gravel it will slow the bike way down as you sink in and you need to power up the motor to get through it rather than bogging down. It's not often...

    He Ain't Heavy , He's My Brose

Looks nice, with interesting spoke pattern, but the front fender is a bit too short. Is it a hi-speed 28mph pedelec or 20mph?
