XM 700+ Trek 10,000+ mile report

After 4 years I have 10,000+ miles. 95% of the miles have been road rides. I still like the bike. There were some problems. The original tires got frequent flats. I called the tire maker and they said Trek demanded an ultra soft tire with maximum traction. They sent me a quality ebike specific...

    Car rack--which brand

The Buzzrack on Amazon, BUZZRACK Approach 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack, looks very good and the $239 price is also reasonable. Anybody know more about this rack? The Tule and comparable Hollywood racks are much more expensive.

    Off brand batteries?

I have a Trek XM 7000+ with a 400 watt battery. A new 400 or 500 watt battery has a huge price tag. I looked up "bosch ebike battery" in Amazon and they show a "Joyisi" battery for about $300. It has a very high rating by 16 reviewers. It looks like the shape of the battery I have now...

Volta e-bike does look like an e-bike

Title should say DOESN'T LOOK LIKE AN E-BILE. I just saw an article about the Volta e-bike (Kickstarter). It apparently puts the batter in the top tube and has what appears to be a very small rear hub drive. From the video it does not look like an ebike and claims a 40 mile range. My question...

Schwalbe tires off to terrible start

I just bought a Trek XM700+ last month. I've gone 250 miles and have 3 flats. The rubber shows several tiny cuts so more flats are likely on the way. The rubber seems to be very soft compared to other tires. The tires (700x38) are Schwalbe Energizer Pro Green, Performance line, Raceguard...

    Water bottle cage for handlebar

I don't have a place I wanted to put a water bottle on my ebike, but I found this gadget so it can go on the handlebar. Having the water bottle there makes it so easy to reach that I am drinking more water as I ride.

    Headphone let's you hear traffic

Conventional headphones, in my opinion, are not advisable while riding because they mask traffic sounds. On an ebike, because of the greater speed this may be a special problem. Aftershokz (weird spelling I know) do not cover your ear or go into your ear. They use bone conduction and go in...

Why isn't there a "Type" for Road Bikes?

The electricbikereview.com is wonderful. This post is not met to be critical of this wonderful resource. I'm a road bike rider in my 70s and finally realized I can't keep up with the younger riders in my club (or some old ones who are just plain better riders than me). I got a Trek XM700+ after...

Trek XM700+ rear fender-good for rider, bad for follower

The reviews indicated these were plastic and might be a problem. One problem I've noticed riding in western Oregon rain is that the rear fender is way too short on the back and the poor guy behind me gets quite a spray from my rear wheel. I like the way the front fender works and the rear fender...

I plan to use the ebike for trips around town and for club rides in the area. This webpage is an enormous resource for beginners like me.

    While law enforcement

I just bought an while with 28mph limit on the assist instead of the 20 mph limit. I live in Oregon. What are limits in Oregon? Are these enforced? I ride about 15 mph and wonder how or why I would face enforcement problems.
