Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

If the bike does that, my Forerunner 645 isn't fancy enough to know it. ;)

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

I'm late to this party, but my Garmin connects just fine to the Tero for cadence tracking. I assume it works just fine for you too, but if it doesn't, just know it should!

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

Swapping to a smaller chainring isn't likely to speed him up, it'd just make the pedaling easier (by making each stroke do less). I'd guess he just keeps the motor turned down instead of increasing the assist on the hills? That is one thing I really wish ebikes could get better...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

Hah, I live just a couple miles from the Foothills Trail. Looking forward to them getting the bridge done, I'm right in the middle of the trail and would much rather ride to Enumclaw than Puyallup. That said, I'm a big fan of Farm 12 as a pastry stop at the Puyallup end. Really helps minimize...

    Mission Control-Failed, again

I don't use Komoot, so that wasn't my issue. It's been a while since I've reliably used Mission Control since I gave up on it (outside of my ride this last weekend), and can't remember for sure what other apps I may have been using, but generally I'll use Google Maps for navigation and Plex Amp...

    Mission Control-Failed, again

I have all but given up on Mission Control logging. Historically it's failed enough for me to not risk it....although, I will say this last weekend I did a 50 mile ride but my watch (which is what I normally log from) didn't charge the night before, so I risked using Mission Control and it...

[RESOLVED] (refunded) New Vado 5.0 IGH in the shop, errors galore---updated 4-13-22

For what it's worth, I've had that same error from OP 3 times on the Tero 5.0. Twice on a single recent 45 mile ride. Adjusting support levels got rid of the error on the heads up display but the motor wouldn't kick on until I turned it all off and on again.

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

Wider tires would help a little but I suspect you'd find the ride feels pretty similar to the Trek Powerfly 5 and there's probably not much you can do to significantly improve that. Both bikes have similar weights, tire widths, and of course neither has rear suspension. About the only thing...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

I think the steepest climb I've had on my rides thus far is 12% grade for half a mile, so quite a ways off from worrying about 19% grades. Who knows what else is out there, though, I've got 100,000 acres of trails and logging roads in my backyard and I've only started scratching the surface...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

20% assist is the key. I haven't done one of those long ones yet (I'm waiting on the weather to improve a bit), but I'm pretty confident it'll do the job. On my spreadsheet I referenced, the rides where I leave it at 20% I extrapolate mid-70s in terms of total mile range, and that's based on...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

I mean, I considered a lot of bikes, but my primary concern was range. I wanted something I could go 60+ miles and climb 4k vertical feet with on a charge. I don't think there's a lot of bikes out there, certainly not the Vado SL, that could safely pull that off (even with the range extender).

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

Well, if you do decide to educate me on the differences (again), just remember the 4.0 does in fact have a dropper post. I was/am well aware that the motor is not the ONLY difference and I have no idea why you would assume I needed that education. I'm also well aware that the 4.0 is not...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

This is kind of a silly argument, no? The 5.0 is 25% more expensive than the 4.0. Much of that expense, not all of it, but much of it goes to the motor. So far I haven't felt like I've needed more than 60% assist to climb a hill at a reasonable clip. Maybe I will come across the hill that...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

I would say Mission Control logging works for me 90% of the time. I'm on Android, Pixel4a if it matters. Would be very curious on other TCD user's experiences. Maybe it's my phone? As far as the motor, don't get me wrong, I'll take the power, but I'd have rather saved $1k. The weaker motor...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

I ended up getting a Tero 5.0. Here's my thoughts: The Good: Very fun to ride. Motor is very, very powerful. The weight + big 29" tires + wide tires make it very easy to ride on anything but the roughest singletrack. The ease of setting the motor at 10% increments is a godsend. Since the...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

That looks like a heck of a ride! Thanks for all that context, it's really hard to get real world data for what these bikes are capable of! One last question...what assist level(s) did you do that with? One of these bikes in my size is about 70 miles away, and it's beckoning me. I've been...

Anybody Ride a Specialized Turbo Tero Yet?

That's a sexy lookin' rig. Think it'd go 50 miles and 5k vertical feet in a medium assist level?
