My First DIY - Gravel Bike w/TSDZ2

I went with 48V 500W with the SW102 mini display, no throttle or brake sensor. When I bought it, EcoCycles had ample battery supply - I went with their 14Ah offering. Yeah, it's heavy, but at some point I'll probably take this for a nice long bikepack trek... I'm super pleased overall after...

    Trail App?

I like GaiaGPS, too - I can show many tracks on one map! You may be able to tell that I live near the Holyoke Range 😄

    Trail App?

For finding and navigating "real" MTB trails with my phone, I'm partial to Trailforks (link to website version of their map). In my experience - albeit mostly in my region (New England) - the app is easy to learn and use, and trail systems are accurately laid out. Its GPS tracking works well on...

My First DIY - Gravel Bike w/TSDZ2

Thanks, it's fun to ride. I can't say either stem is significantly better than the other, though I prefer Kinekt's spring system for absorbing faster vibrations (like gravel creates). I also ended up swapping the seat post for Kinekt's BodyFloat for the same reason.

Axiom Streamliner Disk DLX Might be hard to find one for under $50 anymore, at least not including shipping...

    Peddle, or pedal?

Just thought I'd revive this thread - I'm seeing way too much peddling of petals without proper pedaling again here 🤣

"Bike-by-Wire" - Chainless Ebike Drive System

Gotta hand it to Google News feed - it keeps leading me to intriguing ebike info. The following piece seemed worthy of an EBR post: https://www.electrive.com/2021/08/31/schaeffler-presents-chainless-e-bike-drive/ Excerpts from a press release: The first application I thought of was...

    Noob advice please

My best advice is to do a lot of research before making a purchase. I got my first TSDZ2 from EcoCycles, and they've been very helpful all along the way. There are a lot of options, and these guys seem to have the most stock and accessory options...

    25kph/15.5mph or 32kph/20mph Vote

A 15 MPH ebike limit seems appropriate for mixed use trails and paths. It might even be too fast for singletrack. On the roads, however, "20 is plenty" for me. I can understand the appeal of 28, but cars don't expect bikes to go that fast, and accident injuries become exponentially more...

    Performance speed motor update

You bought them new at Goodale's just a few months ago and they want to charge you to perform a Bosch update? That's not cool...

    Warning about Eunorau

I've ridden a couple of ebikes with "torque sensing" Bafang mid-motors, and the power-down delay you mention was similar to that of their cadence sensing systems. Unlike Bosch-Shimano-Yamaha-Brose etc, whose power shuts off immediately when you stop pedaling, this can indeed be dangerous on...

    Difficulty Selling an eBike

I got this done by the closest Bosch-certified LBS when I sold my 2015 Felt LebowskE in 2018. Showing it only had 36.2 full charge cycles definitely helped me get my asking price!

    Difficulty Selling an eBike

Agreed! I just sold two Haibike eMTBs for almost exactly what I paid for them nearly two years ago - still in excellent condition as I rode them minimally (they were acquired for my eMTB Rentals & Tours biz that never got off the ground). One of the bikes wasn't even "listed," and the one that...

My TSDZ2 casing broke. Are shell replacements worth it or should I consider other options?

You're not alone - the TSDZ2's fixing block didn't fit my bike either, and the motor's casing broke similarly to yours (pic below). It was fine for several hundred miles with the stock 42T chainring, but I got speed-greedy and slapped a 52T badboy on it. 10 miles into my first ride with 52T and...

    Difficulty Selling an eBike

In my experience (40+ "new" ebikes since 2015), some ebikes come with transferable warranties, but most do not. A lot of consumer-direct ebikes' warrantees are hardly worth pursuing anyway. Responses to claims can take weeks, months or more, and they often won't cover LBS labor charges. With...

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

Big improvement on the wheel spec! What's the inner rim width? My 2017 HAL eBoost Pro, which I sold in 2019 when I got my Commencal MetaPower with the same e8000 setup, came with WTB i29 (pics below). IMO the 29mm-wide wheels were a bit too narrow for the 2.8" Rekons it came with, so I put...

    Yamaha PW-X swap to PW-X2

If you're in the N. America or Mexico, I urge that you look into eBike Motor Repair before abandoning your PW-X. Michael may be able to tell you if the PX-X2 system will work on your old Sduro... I just sent my 2017 Haibike Allmtn's Bosch CX to them, and got a complete overhaul for less than...
