Chain Guard Failure on Bosch Preformance

I got it from Merlin Cycles in the UK. They were the only ones who had a red one at the time. I have bought from them before and they are good, cheap and fast.

Chain Guard Failure on Bosch Preformance

I use the Miranda chain guard with a Performance drive and it works great and looks snazzy too. Go for it! I put a thin plastic disc behind it to prevent gunk from clogging up the holes. But that's just because I'm too lazy to clean them all the time.

Ebikes are no longer a rare sight on my commute

I can confirm what The Duke is saying. Northern San Diego County, I have been doing my commute over 18 miles along the coast by bike for over 10 years now and over the last year or so noticed a significant increase in the number of regulars I encounter. Most of them are on e-bikes. And even some...

    Actually hitting 28mph

Yes, the actual cutoff seems to be slightly lower than advertised. I technically have a 20mph Haibike with Bosch drive and I hit "the pudding" around 18mph. On top of that the actual speed is lower than the Intuvia display says, just like others have observed. I installed a Peartune chip and can...

How many miles to expect – Bosch Performance line

What HaibikeRider said. I am just about to cross the 7000 mile mark on my XDuro Trekking RX that I started riding in February of last year. So far no signs of problems with the motor. You do have to stay on top of chain wear, though, especially if you push hard and/or are a clydesdale like me.

Good News For Owner of Bosch Powered E-bikes

Interesting. I tried with two magnets from a Specialized and a Cateye computer and both worked. Magnet clearly doesn't equal magnet. Probably also a matter of your bike's design, how close the sensor is to the spokes. Maybe another option is to put the sensor on a spacer to bring it closer.

Good News For Owner of Bosch Powered E-bikes

I meant no disrespect with that. It is just so ingrained in me to try to fix things myself. And knowing how these speed sensors work this seemed like the easiest solution.

Good News For Owner of Bosch Powered E-bikes

Why do you think it wouldn’t? It’s the same principle, a magnet going by a sensor coil to measure speed. But I can test with a magnet from my parts box. Or you can try. Just wiggle any magnet near the sensor and you should see the head unit showing a speed.

Good News For Owner of Bosch Powered E-bikes

You can take just any spoke magnet. They are available in most bike stores for old school bike computers. Should be no more than $5 or so. Like this one https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=91494

    Riding in the rain

Update on the buddyflaps: Ordering them must have jinxed it because we had a fairly wet winter this year in San Diego and I got to ride in full rain gear a couple of times. The flaps worked really well. The front kept most of the spray from my feet and the motor, which was my main concern and...

    Spoke torque wrench

I'm with JRA on this one. Have also been building wheels for many years in a shop and freelance. Not a single failure reported. My most important tool (also my cheapest) for fine tuning a newly laced wheel is actually a guitar pick. I find that going by sound I can get very even tension across...

    Ebike Chain Lubes

Yes, very smooth shifting and it runs very quiet too. In fact, before I started using it I used the sound of the chain as an indicator that it was time for checking wear and replacing. After I started using chain-l I missed the stretch because it was so silent. They have a free sample offer and...

    Ebike Chain Lubes

I've been working on bikes for many years and ride several thousand miles every year. Hands down the best stuff I found is Chain-L http://www.chain-l.com/ It's thick as honey and a little harder to put on (no quick job) but I consistently get 500-1000 miles between applications.

    Trackers

I use the Cyclemeter app on my iPhone. I pay for the full version because it is worth it. It can even integrate data from a power meter and HRM if you need it. I have my phone in a Rokform rugged case with a stem mount. Works great for me.

Frustrated and need help with battery shipping

I can confirm that is is now next to impossible for a private person to ship an e-bike battery. I had a brand new Bosch 400Wh battery that I had received as a warranty replacement but had already gotten a 500Wh in the meantime. Found a buyer on here and figured I'd just use the original...

    What's your mileage? (I hit 4900mi on 12-31-18) 1yr, 5mo. 9 days

Finished 2018 with just over 5400 miles. Let’s see if I can beat that in 2019.

    Brand new Bosch PowerPack 400

This may seem like deja vu from a post below but is actually a separate sale. Same story though. I received a warranty replacement for a failing battery on my Haibike from Bosch. Brand new, never even unpacked it. I already upgraded to a Powerpack 500 and want to recoup some of my costs by...

    Destroyed Crankset, Lesson Learned.

You can still ride through there, you just need to deal with the consequences... Like you can eat any mushroom, but some just once.

    Destroyed Crankset, Lesson Learned.

Even like that you will have some water seepage into the bottom bracket area. Most frames have little vent holes at various locations from the welding process and even around waterbottle screws or along the headset some water will eventually enter and make it to the lowest point of your frame...

Clattering sound on Bosch Performance Speed

I used a gear puller similar to the one in the picture. There are many different models available so the easiest is to bring your bike to your local store and see which ones will have the reach you need. Place an old screw or similar on the axle to protect the threads as you apply pressure...
