    Giant Explore pedal alternatives

I didn't like the stock pedals on my 2019 Explore E+1 GTS at all. And on my other bikes I had clipless pedals (the kind where you need a special fitting on your shoe) but those were road bikes which I used for longer distance riding and not stop-and-go commuting. I didn't think I wanted those...

    Change chainring on 2016 Giant Dirt-E+ 2

Oh no! What are you going to do? Are the socket walls really thick? I had no problem with the socket that I got, but then again my bike is a different model... 2019 Explore E+1 GTS. The thickest part of the wall (by the sides of the bolt) are 1/4". The thinnest, (by the corners of the...

    Change chainring on 2016 Giant Dirt-E+ 2

Yes, it's reverse threaded. Turn it clockwise to remove.

    Change chainring on 2016 Giant Dirt-E+ 2

It's 36mm. Your profile doesn't say where in the world you are, but here in Canada I managed to find the right socket at Canadian Tire. (How did you get the crank arm off... do you have a puller - which is needed?) Yes, you do need to get the spider off in order to change a chain ring...

    RideControl EVO Display Questions

I made my mud guard! And it’s fully documented in a post I made about it last fall. If you search mud guard in posts from me I’m sure you will find it. If not, let me know and I’ll try to find the link. (I’m on my iPhone now and it’s somewhat difficult to do that.) My main EVO display is...

You did a really good job on the paint! Just with a spray can or proper spray gun?Nicely done! I’ve often worked with pvc so that’s not a problem. Even though my Explore E+1 has a side stand, in my garage it takes up more space (leans way over) than it would if upright. Darn! I just took a...

    Can I add a throttle to my LaFree e + 1?

Oh. I thought it was about wearing something out on the bike and I didn’t understand. I guess s/he should have a bike (is it Class 3) that has a throttle. So no pedaling would be required.

    Concern about wearing WHAT out?

    2020 Giant Explore E+ 2 GTS, I think I found my bike!

The EVO display DOES have a port for charging your phone. I use it all the time to power my iPhone Xs. It doesn't supply enough amperage to both run the phone AND charge it, but at least it can maintain a steady power level on the phone.

    RideControl EVO Display Questions

Salut Pierre! Funny that this isn't mentioned at all in the manual. SIGH Have you got that working? So, if I understand correctly, using the AW Series 5 (which I have) AND the RideControl app would allow me to have the heart rate displayed on the EVO. Or is the app only used to configure...

Nice looking stand! Did you make it yourself? The two vertical tee's you have... they appear to be angled slightly forward (off the normal 90 degrees)... is that right? I've only seen those tee's with 90 degrees. Or does it just appear that they're angled forward? Maybe the pressure of the...

    Ride Control Firmware

I'm just putting the finishing touches on installing a BikeSpeed RS (similar to the Speedbox2) on my 2019 Explore E+1. I should know if the firmware upgrade works in a few days. But I'm actually tempted to try updating the firmware before I connect the BikeSpeed RS. It would be too much of a...

2020 GIANT Explore-E+ Maximum Range Expectations

Just to repeat what I've often said in other threads, if you're really considering a bike with small frame size, do your best to actually test one in your size before buying! And it must be a small in the model you're considering. I'd test ridden an Explore E+3 (2019) with medium frame and I...

2020 GIANT Explore-E+ Maximum Range Expectations

Not for 2020! For 2020, ONLY the 2 and 4 models are available in Canada. The 1 and 3 models are from 2019 and are still on the Giant Canada website even though they show as being all sold out. It's a real shame that they aren't bringing the higher model (E+1) into Canada for 2020.

    Ride Control Firmware

No idea how long they've been selling Giant. When I saw your post that you had to go 200 km to get to a dealer, I was curious. I like Maine and have over the years spent much time there. And now every year once or twice I come down through Maine to cut across to New Brunswick on my way to...

    Ride Control Firmware

Hmmm... Your profile says you're in Augusta... Busytown Bikes in Lewiston is only 30 miles (50km) away and their website says they are Giant dealers. Which dealer are you going to that makes you "...need to travel over 200km for Giant service"? Are you going to Bangor? (To Slipping Gears...

    2020 Giant Explore E+ 2 GTS, I think I found my bike!

The Explore E+4 comes with 400v battery, but the E+2 had 500v. Make sure you try the frame size you intend to buy as all the dimensions are different. I tried a medium frame, liked it, but due to short legs, wanted a lower frame so I ordered the small frame bike. Then I found the "cockpit"...

Snowbird here in South Florida from Montreal

So it looks like yours has no computer. I have a full computer display (RideControl EVO) so I'm more concerned about having accurate speed and distance readings than you'd be. The phone GPS is always the most accurate anyway I think. Have you figured out yet how far you can go on a charge...

Snowbird here in South Florida from Montreal

Oh, when I said "most bike computers"... I meant ones that cannot be recalibrated for different tire sizes. Like the computer on my Giant Explore. It has often been asked for, but it seems there is just no way to recalibrate for different tires. Unfortunately. So when I replace my tires, I'm...

Snowbird here in South Florida from Montreal

I'm not familiar with your bike... does it have a computer? Or do you just use your phone as a GPS etc? Be aware that if you change to a different tire size, most bike computers would then not show accurate speed/distances anymore. I've been quite happy with the stock tires on my Explore, at...
