    Upgrading to 500c Bafang display

It should be fine. I just recently ordered a Bafang front hub drive (for a dual motor hub setup) and the 500c unit was one of the display options. I also have that 500c unit on my BBS02 kits.

Radwagon: How steep of a grade can it handle?

I have a 2016 Rad wagon and I've carry people on my bike on occasion. If your on flat roads, then its easy. Depending on how steep the hill is, you'll may need to throttle to keep you going. I've since added a second front 36v 350 watt Dillenger geared hub motor kit ($630) and have climbed...

    DC bike ride

That's what I meant. I would remove the throttle entirely from the handlebars. Then the only way to start the motor is through pedal assist only.

    Multiple BBSHD kit issues

I had similar problems with my BBSHD but that was from using the throttle to try to tow something that it couldn't handle. After that, the motor could cut out now and then. I remember hearing problems with the BBSHD software; that it can get confused when you throttle and pedal at the same...

    DC bike ride

https://dcbikeride.com/ According to their FAQ "Pedal-assist bicycles are allowed. E-bikes with a throttle or that can be POWERED BY MOTOR ONLY ARE NOT ALLOWED. " So if you disconnect your throttle, is your bike allowed? Then it would only run in pedal assist mode.

    Anyone Ever Crunch a Squirrel?

I remember riding up the Bethesda Trolley Trail nearing the bridge to cross 495 and saw a squirrel on the side of the path. I saw him and was thinking "don't do it", lol. At the last second, he jumps in front of my bike and I run him over. My BBSHD bike (hardtail) is about 68 lbs and I weigh...

What’s the most reliable ebike after 10,000km?

I have over 12,000 km on my Radwagon and it still runs great. I've never had to take it apart and I've gone on single track, through slow, dragged it through wet clay, crashed on it, ridden in heavy rains, and biked through streams that go up to my bottom bracket. I did notice the spokes start...

4 Bike 500w Rear Hub Motor Builds from Greenergy

I used to have a BBS02 on my son's 24 inch Cannondale 24. Wow, that was a fun ride until he outgrew it. It used a 6ah 52v Luna battery that was small enough to fit in the frame of the bike. Now he is riding an XS Marin Hawk Hill full suspension (non-ebike). Marin has a Hawk Hill Jr full...

Belt Drives vs. Chain for Electric Bikes, Pros & Cons

Chains are so easy to work with and cheap to replace (~$10) that I've never even considered a belt drive. My hardtails, full-suspensions, cargos, folding, race bikes all use chains.

    52 v 14S battery?

I have an older Radwagon that runs a 17ah luna 52v battery using the existing OEM controller. The original battery was an 11.6ah 48v. The controller on my bike can handle up to 60 volts and the 52v only goes up to 58.8v peak. I just had to change the connectors to make it work. Acceleration...

rad wagon handle bars - upgrade ideas ?

I have a 2016 radwagon and the stem is 1 1/8 inch thick and the clamp size is 25.4 mm. If your going to put thicker 31.8 mm thicker mtb bars, then you'll need a new 1 1/8 inch stem that can clamp 31.8 mm bars. I replaced my bars with a Jones type handlebar so I had to replace the stem too.

Changing brakes pads - open bleeding port when resetting pistons?

I do my own hydraulic brake maintenance and when installing new pads, I use this tool to open up the pistons. You can open up the bleeding port but I don't think its necessary. It won't break anything but I've had no problems leaving it closed. I only open up the bleed port if there is air in...

    Radwagon rear flat

Got my first rear flat on the Radwagon after a few years of riding. I carry a socket wrench along with my repair kit and extra tubes just in case. It turned out to be a pinched flat probably from one of the tree roots I bumped into on the trail. Getting the wheel off was pretty easy once I...

How do you define the ideal electric touring bicycle?

Thanks, I looked up the front rack but didn't see any place where I can purchase this in the US. I have another hardtail that I plan to convert for long distance riding and would be interested in installing it on that bike.

How do you define the ideal electric touring bicycle?

I did a 128 mile ride yesterday with my Radwagon. I used a 13.5 ah battery in the frame and (2) 17.4 ah batteries; one in each pannier. 90% of the ride was on gravel and trails. With the weight of the bike, the cooler I was carrying, food, tools, etc, the bike was probably over 120 lbs. I...

Need advice on a carbon fiber build

I have a Luna BBSHD on my hardtail. The HD does provide a lot of assist on the default 5 level settings, but that can be fixed by changing it to 9 levels of assist. You can also offset the 5 level assist by switching to a 52t front chainring. You can just specify that when you order the kit...

    Go For $$ Or Not?

I would just buy a trailer and hook it up to the Rad-Mini. Then throw a second battery in the trailer along with a cooler bag and some drinks. Just from my experience, you can carry more in a trailer than you can with 2 panniers.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Stopped by Meadowood Mountain Bike trail in Lorton, Va. I took the Radwagon down from Arlington. I packed (2) 52v 17ah batteries, one in each pannier, and a 48v 13.5 ah in the frame bag. With all the extra weight, the ride down used up all my frame battery (25 miles one way with some really...

Dog/child pull behind carrier recommendations...frame mounted

They have ones that clamp to the seat post frame for carrying kids but I'm not sure how safe that is. I have a cargo bike and when I'm carrying someone and lean into a turn, I can feel the extra weight in the rear. It's unsettling. I figure the it would feel with same with a frame attached...
