    Know Your Average Stopping Distance?

The extra weight does increase stopping distance and wear on the brakes but it's not as much as he says because the weight comparison has to include the rider. So increased weight is no different than a 20 pound heavier rider. (and losing 10 lbs is cheaper than buying a bike that is 10 lbs...

My new bike came in but it has a minor chip in the paint. How much credit should I be offered to consider taking?

That looks pretty minor to me. I wouldn't reject the bike for that. If they give you any discount at all that is a good deal.

Snap sound during hard cranking in taller gears?

Check your chain angle between the chain ring and the cartridge wheel when it's in that gear. I bet that the alignment is not good. You may have to change the shims on the chain ring.

Charger gets very hot while charging. Concerned?

Not Good! Most good chargers have a built in fan. Mine does. You don't want it getting hot. Warm is ok but if you can't hold it in your hands it's getting too hot. I would add a fan like you were doing. A little airflow goes a long way.

I would never go above 1C on 18650 cells. That should charge in under an hour.

If your Ebike battery goes up no bag is going to hold it.

But the Tesla sounds like a vacuum cleaner and the real cars sound cool! Now someone needs to make a sound system for the Tesla to make it sound like a muscle car. :-)

Might have damaged my battery pack! ;(

Cut on the side toward the damaged battery so that you don't damage the neighbors. Try using a hot knife which should cut through the glue more easily.

Might have damaged my battery pack! ;(

You need to find a way to remove and replace that damaged cell! I am sure it can be done if you work at it.

How low do you let your battery voltage go before you fully charge it?

Ideal storage voltage where cells age the least is about 3.85V per cell. If you go much below that you should charge right away up to that if you are not going to ride right away.

How low do you let your battery voltage go before you fully charge it?

I don't go below 3.5V on mine. It drops rather quickly there so you don't gain much range by going lower and your batteries will last longer if you don't discharge them below that. I also don't charge to 100% all the time. I do so sometimes to get the BMS a chance to balance the pack.

    Batteries on Fire ...

He overcharged them with an improper charger. There was no BMS or any overcharge protection. He should have known better being an expert on Teslas.

Need help dialing in handlebars. Pain and numbness in hands.

My wife had the same complaint - mostly her back bothered her riding a mountain bike. I built her an Ebike and I raised the bars about 6 inches and back about 2 inches and she likes it much better that way. Maybe not ideal riding position but with an Ebike it's fine and she won't ride if it...

Does lighter bike make up difference in gearing advantage of heavier bike

My Ebike is much heavier with battery and motor than the original mountain bike but it rides great! The assist makes up for the weight. I agree that lifting and carrying it isn't nice though. Riding up a hill, it doesn't matter if the bike is lighter or the rider it lighter - it's the total...

Does lighter bike make up difference in gearing advantage of heavier bike

Weight and center of gravity make a big difference for any vehicle - especially a 2 wheeled one. I know that lots of folks pay big bucks to get a lighter bike - but it's cheaper to shed a couple pounds than buy an expensive lighter frame. :-) The total weight including rider is what you are...

Where to look for replacement batteries?

IMO Bargain batteries are very likely to be junk. Buy quality cells or buy a battery from a trusted vendor. With batteries you will have to bite the bullet and pay what good quality cells cost.
