    Should wearing helmet be optional?

This is embarrassing to admit and not related to biking, but I slipped on wet concrete while gassing up my car on a road trip. I don't have medical insurance, but the hit was hard enough that I knew I had a concussion. The station employees let me park until morning- I had a difficult time...

    Should wearing helmet be optional?

Hey, I don't have to tell you that NM is one of the few states where motorcycle helmets aren't mandatory. It blows my mind, car drivers here are awful, why would anyone ride in traffic without one? I'm kind of flaky about suiting up. I got a cheap reflective neon vest at the Kmart closeout sale...

How does a bike trailer stress an eBike?

No. I have a seatpost mount because my motor prevents the use of an axle mount trailer. I think the wiring would prevent the use of mounts that attach on the frame near the axle. I hope your Nomad works out well for you. I've considered ordering Nomad wheels and spacers to increase the weight...

How does a bike trailer stress an eBike?

Okay, that makes more sense. I weigh 250, my bike weighs about 50, my trailer weighs 10, and my cargo is supposed to be 60 or less. My bike is somewhat shaky because it is a folder. My trailer attaches to my seat post, so the weight during braking is higher than is optimal, I suppose. I can't...

How does a bike trailer stress an eBike?

Have you tried to haul half the weight you plan on carrying? 150 lbs makes for one unstable bike, let alone braking capacity. Dude, I don't know squat, but if you want to haul that much weight and you're not doing it on flat ground, I'd be looking at a cargo bike or something more industrial.

Please Critique the 2019 Trek Powerfly 5 as a Practical Car Replacement Strategy

Yeah, I'm a polite bicyclist. I even try to ding my bell quietly, so pedestrians don't think that it's a message to get out of my way. You see rude bicyclists zipping fast around campus every day- I try not to be one of them. I admit, nothing brings out my road rage when I'm in a car like the...

Please Critique the 2019 Trek Powerfly 5 as a Practical Car Replacement Strategy

I just finished watching Court’s video on Mammoth Mt. Ski Area. I didn’t know (as a Mammoth Lakes resident away at college) that riding an e-bike on town bike paths is illegal. Riding out in traffic is suicidal with visitors focusing on views, maps, kids, etc. so when I go back I will still ride...

Mammoth Mountain Becomes First US Resort to Allow Electric Bikes

Heh, it’s good to hear that “the hill” allows e-bikes. Mammoth is still my permanent residence as I finish a graduate degree out-of-state. I have TOTALLY ridden my Class 3 bike in town and didn’t know it was illegal, but frankly my dear... I’ve never used the bike park- I’m cheap, poor, and...

Please Critique the 2019 Trek Powerfly 5 as a Practical Car Replacement Strategy

Hehe, I lived in a ski resort town where many seasonal workers didn’t own cars and you would see guys pairing up on BMX bikes, with the passenger on pegs. Hell, I didn’t have a car and I rode/snowshoed for my commute “up the hill.” I would load my rear rack so heavy with laundry and groceries...

Folding Fat Bike mid drive options?

I don’t remember who, but someone awhile ago in the RadPower forum bought a RadMini, got rid of the rear hub and did a BBSHD conversion. Lots of people have done Montague Paratrooper BBSHD conversions, but it’s not a fatty. You’ve probably seen some on the Luna forum. New Montys have a rear...

Finally got my first E Bike

That’s great that you have a bike on the way! What was the difference in the feel of the Radmini and the Rover? Did you think that the MIni handlebars are too high?

Report on long term use of 2 e bikes

Wow, that’s some nice scenery. Hehe, it doesn’t look like goathead thorn country... I was fixing a flat a week in ABQ in spite of tire liners and slime before I bought Schwalbe Marathons. I can’t be carrying around a torque wrench to pull off the rear Bionx hub to deal with thorn flats. I...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

I miss the coast- I lived up on Skyline in a commune when I was a lot younger... I think a trail from the crest to the coast goes through that property now. Neighbors used to do it on horseback, but I doubt if ebikes are allowed on it today.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Hehe, forget the tourists, the locals drive like they want to kill bicyclists! This town is downright scary when off the bike paths! I thought about trying old 66 to attempt to escape some of the heat, but I’m afraid I’d burn up my motor. I should try it early some day. My regen doesn’t add to...

Riese & Muller Tinker vs. Walerang Tjugo

You know, the Walerang Tjugo frame looks a lot like the Ariel Rider M Class and the Orbea Katu-E 10. Looks like the main difference is what motor do you want? How many gears? Components? RM Tinker with belt drive means you don't have to mess with upgrades. Pay now or later? Proprietary system or...

Questions on tires - cross current/reip current

I emailed a similar question to RadPower and they did not recommend thinner wheels for the RadMIni. I wish it was possible, too.

Turning E bike to pedal only

Well, for those of us who have BionX kits on our bikes, yeah, I'm not getting rid of my stock rear hub anytime soon. I might want to put a BBSHD on this instead someday.

    Suggestions for mini folding bike

One of these days I want to ride a fatty and see how much more comfortable they might be than my current bike, although fixing my current ride has improved it a lot.
