For those in the CA zones affected by the blackout- How do you charge it ?

Solar panels....I have a 200 watts setup on my roof and can charge my 36 V 14.5 amp battery in 5 hrs. It works but it costs. The total setup cost with panels, 2 x 6 Volt deep cycle batteries, 20 Amp controller, 1000 watt inverter, monitor and associated hardwire (wiring, plugs, connectors...

    Stromer sport

I am still not clear what you mean "nothing happens". The motor doesn't turn when you apply throttle and when you turn the crank?? Be very specific and describe exactly what happens.

    Stromer sport

I think you may have to look into the motor. Find the wiring diagram and determine what wiring or pin outs are for the thermocouple coming out of the motor. Once you find the pair of wires that are this sensor then pull out your multi meter and check to see if it's going to ground or if you...

    Buy now or wait?

I bought a Tern folding bike and then converted it to electric. It has all the things I wanted in an electric bike. Belt drive, disc brakes, internal HUB gearing, 20" wheels with Apple ballon tires, and best of all it fits inside my car. It wasn't cheap. The kit was from GRIN technologies...

    Stromer sport

I would think that an "overheat" indicates an elevated temperature in the motor. Is this what your manual says? Does the motor still run (pedal assist and throttle)? You say, "tried the throttle and pedal in regular mode and nothing happened". Does this mean the bike stops operating? If...

    Buy now or wait?

You have lots of questions and it seems lot of your own answers. Try not to over think this. I can understand why because that's exactly the way I pondered going electric as well. Its was a process. Then a decision, then the joy. I am waiting also for the market to settle on "belt" drives...

Firmware Upgrading with Bosch, Brose and Yamaha or others...

Just a questions regarding firmware updating. I was wondering if e-bikers can upgrade their own displays or motor firmware on their own. Sometimes, a LBS is not close by. I have this option on my Bafang front HUB, GRIN technologies Baserunner controller, and GRIN technologies Cycle Analyst to...

    New Tern HSD Video Review | P9 | S8i | S+

OK I have a question regarding the HS+. I read that it shifts automatically but do you have the option to shift manually. Like a twist of the wrist? I am thinking of the S8i but could be convinced to the HS+ when I find out more about it. I want one in red!! I was hoping Tern would add a...

    New Tern HSD Video Review | P9 | S8i | S+

Nice video and you are making really slick presentations. I would like to see the same with Tern's HSD+. So many questions and not many answers just yet. I guess we will have to wait until next year then but they say these models are going to be available next year. How are you getting them...

    Tern HSD rear rack

These are the exact words that describe the Tern HSD's rack from their web page. I don't see them mentioning more than one kid and the pictures only show one seat with one kid. Atlas H Rack Extra long and extra strong, the Atlas H Rack handles up to 60 kg (132 lbs) of cargo so you can carry...

My Tern Project - Verge Si8 electrified!

OK finally got some mileage my belt (pun intended) with the electrified Tern Si8. So as for the range, once I have a fully charged battery you have to reset the counter. This is easy to do. I have been getting around 45 to 60 kms per charge. The bike has been totally trouble free and I have...

British Columbia, Canada: Policy designating Class 2 and 3 e-bikes as motorized vehicles goes into effect immediately

It real funny to listen to people who want more speed out of their e-bikes. My Tern at 30 km/hr feels plenty fast and honestly I'll use my motorcycle if I want anything faster. I purposely stay off the busy streets that have lots of traffic and feel very vulnerable on the e-bike. Short wheel...

Good quality eBike conversion kits in the UK

Bosch does not sell their mid drive motors to do-your-selvers. Their motors are designed to fit into manufactured bikes and so the frames are fitted to the motor. I am afraid you are going to have to look seriously at the Chinese brands. I think the Bafang line are quite reliable and you...

    Hub Motors or Single Shafts?

No those motors I don't think were designed to be used on a bicycle. More likely for an electric scooter that can go 40 to 50 mph. So way above the legal limits of a street e-bike. You need read more about e-bikes and I would suggest going to this site: ebikes.ca Lots of information here...

Updating my front forks to suspension forks...

OK that's a possibility. I still haven't heard back from the suppliers so its back on the table then....

Updating my front forks to suspension forks...

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe that's why there are no mounting points on these suspension forks...because not a good to place a motor there. Anyway I only have a 250 W motor that weighs in about 2.5 kg and this probably being unsprung weight would effect the effectiveness of the shocks. OK...
