    Advice/suggestions for a mid-train road bike

Check out the Giant Toughroad E+ as well. I absolutely loved mine.

Securing an e-Bike with Panniers Attached

You can see him exerting a bit of force with both hands, but you can't really make out the tool; if I had to guess, I'd say he just had some heavy-duty side cutters and nipped away until it was severed. Security footage is here for the curious: The moral of the tale is to always lock your...

Securing an e-Bike with Panniers Attached

Yup. It took roughly two minutes for thieves to cut through my 10mm Kryptonite braided steel cable in full view of a busy patio. We've got it on video.

Securing an e-Bike with Panniers Attached

So... my pedelec was stolen on the 4th by a thief with tools (that's for another topic); this has my wife and I a bit nervous now, when it comes securing her bike. My wife has a Lafree with large Dutch double shoppers. We've never really landed on a good method to lock her bike; the large...

Giant Lafree E+2 and E+1 I have owned both models!!!!

My wife has had bad luck with lower-end derailleurs in the past, enough to make her anxious when riding a geared bicycle. The internally geared hub of the Lafree shifts so smoothly you hardly notice, and the entire system is incredibly simple to adjust if it ever gets out of alignment. I know...

    ToughRoad GX E+

I've got the Rack-It Metro E as well, it seems very solid and mounted easily after dropping the rear wheel. I went with a Two Wheel Gear pannier since I often carry a laptop and rectangular shaped electronics; it was a bit expensive for a single pannier, but the size and full-open zipper is...

    Lafree E+1 Pannier

We looked at those types as well, but my wife really wanted to keep a low center of gravity and, more importantly, needs to haul groceries; the pannier size really eliminated quite a few brands and types. Right now we have an older single pannier on her bike to get her through until new ones are...

Giant e bike app- any experience with it?

The RideControl app updated today, claiming "Android 9 compatibility issues fixed and other bug fixes." And it still bricks my bike until I remove the battery...

Budget first eBike for all-weather commuting

My wife absolutely loves her LaFree Gates-drive and I'm a bit jealous of the internally geared hub myself. I picked up a Giant Toughroad for my commute; the 'gravel grinder' style was a perfect blend of everything I liked from my LBS. Ask your LBS for last year's model -- that brought my price...

    ToughRoad GX E+

This straddles the on-topic Toughroad thread and a more generalized Intro/Bike Garage post... But when looking for information, I found myself in bike-specific threads more than the hits from searches, so here I am. Yesterday I picked up a 2018 model Toughroad, my first ebike and my first "real"...

RadMini Step-Thru or Electra Townie Go! 8D?

That almost caused us not to take it for a test ride; we really liked the lower center of gravity with the battery on the downtube. Once my wife was on the Giant, she said she didn't notice any extra top weight, even at stop, when compared to the Electra (our LBS did remark that they have had...

    Lafree E+1 Pannier

I'm not sure what Giant was thinking when they made this rack. You can put a trunk bag on top, but you can't hang panniers from there since it's too narrow. Then they inset the mid and bottom horizontals so that any bag clips have to protrude from the pannier enough to clear the diameter of the...

RadMini Step-Thru or Electra Townie Go! 8D?

If you have the opportunity, check out the Giant stepthrough as well. My wife ended up preferring the Giant (Yamaha) assist to that of the Electra, to both our surprise.

    Lafree E+1 Pannier

My wife will be receiving a Lafree this week and we're having trouble finding panniers that will work with the rear rack mounted battery on this bike. There's not much room for standard metal or plastic clips and we haven't found a standard bag that fits at our LBS. I've seen general threads...

Help with first eBike, loved the ride of the Giant Road E

One of my LBS had last year's Toughroad on deep discount that I missed it when I was testing over the weekend. The ride was a perfect blend of what I like and the discount made it too sweet to pass; I rode it home tonight and loved every mile.

Help with first eBike, loved the ride of the Giant Road E

I haven't been able to locate any Raleigh dealers nearby; I'm weighing taking the 100 mile drive to the larger shop in the state that has a few more options in-store, including Raleigh. You're right, the new Redux IE you linked is almost identical to the SC8 save a few downgraded components and...

Help with first eBike, loved the ride of the Giant Road E

My wife just bought a Giant Lafree and I'm in the market for a PAS as well to keep up with her. I'm a few years shy of 50, around 5' 11", weigh in at 230#, and have been fairly inactive for the past 4-5 years (though I've never been perfectly fit). I rode both distance and flatland BMX as a...

    Lafree E+?

My wife just bought a Lafree E+1 based on test riding a number of models at our local shops; we couldn't find reviews on the bikes, either. From her anecdotal comments, the Yamaha assist combined with the internal gearing and Gates belt gave the smoothest ride and shifting of everything she tried.
