Try cleaning the ferrous dust off the speed sensor pick up.I've only an issue with one of two of my Bafang 750w rear hub motor on my Radrover with +4000 miles on each is when the odometer stopped working but still provide full PAS power and throttle when riding. My +3 year old mid-drive Bafang M620 Himiway Cobra Pro has been perfect. The wife has a 2018 Shengyi 750w direct drive rear hub on her Radcity that has been trouble-free.
True....they have a lot of history and much to be proud of. But in modern history they were stuck. The Chinese made clocks with gears and springs when the west used sundials. They had fine silk when the west had wool homespun. The root of machine is Chine.
Speed sensor provides information to calculate speed. The odometer is a function of the display/controller using the same information. If the speed is correct, then the sensor is working correctly.Try cleaning the ferrous dust off the speed sensor pick up.

Dropping $14,000 on a bike that is proprietary and useless makes people angry when they are asked to spend more yet blown off.
