Creo 2 Remote Buttons

Looking at going Flat Bar on a Creo 2 and have a question about changing the two remote TCU buttons with the 'rocker' type remote that comes on the Vado - I think its the Specialized Trail Remote 2 S216800019

Would this be compatible with the Creo 2 TCU ?

Thanks

Yes, I have done it on my Creo 2. Just have to make sure that the diameter of the bars will fit into the rocker part as that part has to slide onto the bar and does not have much diameter adjustment. It's the difference between the diameter of road bars and mt. bars.

Eddie, first of all, thank you for comfirming that the Vado SL handlebar remote would work with the Creo 2 system. Did you use the Trail Remote 2? Could you share more details how you did it and what the part number was?

Regarding the handlebar diameter: Any modern flat handlebars have the grip area diameter of 22.2 mm, so no issue to install the handlebar remote. As you correctly pointed out, the flat bar remote is a ring that has to be installed with all the left handlebar components (grip and brake lever) removed prior to the installation of the handlebar remote. You are also right to notice the road handlebar diameter is 25 mm, so the remote would not fit there. Did you use the T10 screwdriver to tighten the remote, Eddie?

I am not sure which version of the remote I have. It was first installed on my Creo 1 and then the same one went onto my Creo 2. The only issues I ran into was that the wire that goes into the TCU is a single fatter wire compared to the two thinner ones on the "normal" two sided remote part. That one's wire will fit easily one at time through the hole of metal grommet on the side of the frame. I think Spec make a grommet with a bigger hole but I ended up removing the grommet and drilling it out to accept the Creo 2 wire. I think my remote has a tiny hex head for tightening it to the bar.

Turbo Trail Remote 2 works with the (Creo / Creo 2 flatbar) / Vado SL 1.1 and Levo/Kenevo SL models that use the frame mounted TCU / Mastermind TCU. The Trail Remote 3 is used with the Mastermind H3 on the Vado SL 2 and some of the other new models. Originally they just called it "Trail Remote" but when they added the H3 TCU system they needed to distinguish between the remotes. The H3 Mastermind is also why the Vado SL 2 can have more powerful lights. Another good reference is to search "bestbike dot de" because they include an applicability list. The Vado SL 2 system diagram is on the support page.
