Kind of amusing to the owners that the resident "expert reviewer" appears to be clueless. Yes, the PAS is activated "out of the box." There is no LCD display necessary for it to work. You only need the battery turned on and pedal.
And what I'm saying is that the PAS is actually active already. The user simply has no control over it.
Control over the PAS (setting the level) would come if you connected a computer to the "dead-end" cable. This is what the "dead-end" cable looks like when you take off the cap.

I'm only about half-way through the video, but I notice that you keep saying that the PAS isn't connected to anything and doesn't work. That's not really accurate. It is wired to the controller. But the extra connector is for a cycle analyst, so that you can control the PAS level.
Those folks aren't trolls. They just lack reading comprehension. They calm down after things are slowly explained to them. Everyone's nervous before they receive their bike. It's understandable.

The real answer is that it's actually a photoshopped image, printed onto cardboard, cut to shape, and photographed again. His profit margin is about $690 after materials.
