No hands riding

It's weird riding no-hands in a crosswind.
I have to lean my bike into the wind but just the bike.
I need to remain vertical above the leaning bike.

I'm not cornering, so I can't use centrifugal force to push my weight squarely into my seat, so I'm sliding off my seat sideways.

I did, and do every ride.

I simply lock my throttle and fly.
Handlebars are for wimps. 😁

Seriously dude, I can teach you how to ride no-hands.

I know you like to lean on your handlebars but, is it possible to hover your hands over the grips without them holding you up?

If so, wrap your hands around your handlebar grips without touching the grips.

Hover your hands, ready to grab the grips if you have to.

Practice on flat level ground.
Practice alone.
You don't want to show off or embarrass yourself.

I was riding 32 kph when I took this picture.
No-hands
No audience.
Nice photos. I just discovered riding with no hands on my new stepthru ebike. Could'nt do it on my last ebike. It's well balanced and never wobbles or shakes. I can take turns and makes for comfortable riding. Gives my back and arms a rest.Love it.

95% of the roads around me are perfectly flat and boring to ride with a 20 mph speed limit.
I stay off the asphalt except when I have to be on it to get to the next gravel road.
(I Hate traffic)

Riding no-hands makes it challenging and Fun.

I actually find myself putting my arms out when approaching a corner that I'm nervous about.
And I start leaning forward as well. (To get more weight over the front wheel I guess?)
I do it without thinking, then catch myself doing it.

When I first started riding my e-bikes no-hands, my reaction to riding through a rough patch was to instantly grab the handlebars.

Over time I started putting my arms straight out to the side instead.
That actually works better.

My heavy wheel has a natural tendency to want to go in a straight line, and grabbing the handlebars makes it worse.
I only grab the bars now if I start to slide, or I'm going too fast for a corner.
I have to reset my cruise control speed before every corner, and sometimes I get it wrong.

All the out-tracking stuff is still happening but instead of using the handlebars, you push your seat around underneath you to move the handlebars.

I like pestering Stephan with this picture.
He can't ride no-hands, but claims that he could when he was a kid.

He has no Strava data to back up his claim, so I want him to relearn how to do it and post a Pic as proof. 😁

Then there's this...

Yeah I remember her.
Somebody needs to teach her about out-tracking. 😁

I watched a video of hers where she hooked up with a few guys on BMX bikes.

The BMX guys took her bike for a spin, and could actually do a few tricks on it.
But she didn't do any of her tricks on their BMX bikes.

That was kind of a let down.
Her talents should be easily applied to any two-wheeled "bicycle".

She never seems to crash, but I've seen her jump off her handlebars and had to run to not fall (coulda been staged?)

I guess she's gotta keep herself looking pretty for her shows, and road rash would look bad, but they do make crash pads and helmets.

She's not a one trick pony, but maybe she can only do her tricks on her special pony?

I guess her bike is some kind of unicorn?

(nuthin special about her bike. It's a one speed with no clutch or ratchet so the pedals always rotate when the rear wheel rotates, and pedaling backwards rotates the rear wheel backwards.)

For those times you really feel like riding backwards. Lol

And no helmet :D

I always wear my helmet.

And goggles, full length jeans, jean jacket, elbow pads, knee pads, hiking boots, and gloves.
Even when it's 36°C with a humidex in the 40's

I'm pretty well protected from road rash, but it's still gunna hurt if I crash hard enough.

I've "fallen over" a couple dozen times, but I haven't really "crashed" yet.
I'm not looking forward to that. 😁

Everything except the pads, I soak my clothes in the heat.
I ride through too much plantlife for shorts or t shirts
