No hands riding

I will ride sitting up sometimes, on an open trail section with clean pavement and with nobody else around. It gives my torn up shoulders (2x shattered clavicle left, 1x compound fracture clavicle, grade 3 AC tear without surgery right) a nice break. The geometry of my Pinarello is gravel, with 40mm tires, so it is comfortable by design. I get the mental "freedom" aspect of sitting up. I used to do it after crossing the finish line after a race.

I have no idea what kinda geometry I got going on??

I'm pretty there's something wrong with my equation ??

It's hard to compare road bike based e-bikes to bikes designed as e-bikes from the ground up. You just posted a bunch of pictures of road bikes, like the Peugeot and the Raleigh. For their era, the Peugeot had a "touring" geometry, and the Raleigh had a "race" geometry. Touring geometry today is mostly gone, with the exception of some products from Surly and Salsa and a few others. Gravel bikes these days have a geometry similar to the old touring bikes but with much more clearance for larger tires. My Pinarello is essentially an electric gravel bike with fenders and a rack.

I think that it's a combination of caster (forward fork) and steerer tube angle (rake angle)

I had a Raleigh 10-speed in the 80's that had a Very similar geometry to the bike @Marcela posted,..

I could easily ride it no-hands.


I bought a used Harrow mountain bike about 25 years ago that sucked to ride no-hands.
It was all twitchy because of that stupid "Quick Steer" crap.

About 10 years ago I decided to "fix" the quick steer problem by raking out my steerer tube.

I wanted to cut the steerer tube off, then weld it back on at a more appropriate angle, but I suck at welding.
So I cut the down tube, torched the top tube, and sledgehammered the top tube to rake it out,..

Then I reconnected the down tube with aluminum tubing bolted in place.

(That was a Harrow frame that already had a bent top tube. I just bent it more.)


So that's how much I Don't like today's geometry.
And why I put downhill forks on my ebike.

Those are the frames I like. The steel with that design fork with the forward bend. Not so sure about the mtb, looks like something I'd do though.
