The transition

Suggest you join a car forum then. With that pent up aggression about cyclists blocking the road, you'll fit right in.
The only aggression I'm seeing is from you mate, and it isn't pent-up, it's gushing out. I have no time for wanna be Olympians either, I've even had one crash across the bonnet of my car as he illegally turned across me to keep pace with the pack. He picked up his bike, said sorry, and flew off again, as though any damage he might of done to my car was unimportant compared to his place in the platoon. Most of them are idiots, or idiots in training.

I handle mobs of lycra at a 4 way stop by stopping, letting one cross, then proceeding as the law allows. The rest of the mob can crash into my bike at will. It weighs 94 lb with battery, motor, panniers, tools, repair parts, rain gear, and water. The tool box is 12 lb and the 11" chanllock plier is below that. The sling and lock are 10 lb of steel in a 20" coil. Add 60 lb of groceries or weed killer on outbound trips, where I occasionally encounter the clubs of scofflaws. I am an enormous 160 lb. I wear long+long dickies, poly gloves, leather shoes, and a helmet with chin guard.

And was this 'platoon' deploying dangerously approaching your car in their cunningly designed camouflage Lycra?! Must have been terrifying for you, with those big heavy dangerous bicycles attacking at speed, could have killed you in your delicate little car.

Also a little tip, never call an Irishman 'mate'.

irish? Say no more.

Yeah that's the way. many sheepish drivers will just sit there and wait till all 100 riders pass but that just encourages bad behavior. I'm talking about them running Stop signs and the like myself, I encountered it so often on one of the recognized circuits I just took driving on in my little work truck as though I didn't see them. I never ran over anyone, they all have a plan B for when drivers don't behave as they demand. Then the police took to staking out that particular stop sign and giving them $300 tickets, boy did that make them furious! Some didn't realize they were subject to fines, even though they all know they have equal rights on the road. Racing bikes should be banned from city streets IMO, or limited to groups of 3 or less. They give honest cyclists a bad name, just ask the average driver.

I get Darvo used against me on a regular basis.
I can now reliably detect the first move and my favourite response is to instantly lean over the person and whisper 'go fkk yourself' in their ear.

It contains public reaction and any reaction looks like them starting it.

This sounds like hyperbole, but its 99% of the time men trying to riducule me in front of girlfriend/ wife.

Some extremely narcisstic, envious , sad , troubled R soles out there.

😂 yer one of those cooker aussies then. That figures.

We've got a similar mini trump over here too, minus the orange hair. He'll probably be the UK's next PM the way things are going. He hates cyclists too. Fun times ahead.

Yeah, but in Australia everyone drives on the wrong side of the road so it is easy to understand why cyclists would run stop signs. I've always wondered if you stop on the opposite side of a stop sign in the Southern Hemisphere anyway...

Most of the "transition" was just a series of corporate swindles, financial bubbles. A trillion went down the drain over the rechargeable battery car mania, now the only serious sales are of junk Chinese units being dumped on the West. Domestic sales are in the tank there too. Same with the windmill revolution, same with the large scale solar farms. They are going the way of the solar thermal plants of 15 years ago, money pits that were mostly abandoned. Anyone remember solar thermal? The huge plants in Spain were going to power France and England and they were planning on building them across the Sahara too. They are rehashing those plants a bit now but have rebranded than as CST to avoid the stigma of the old failures.

The UK is still in a net-zero delusion, even though for all their manic building of windmills etc 70% of their energy expenditure is still oil and gas and no doubt always will be. There are some things that electricity is just not practical for I'm afraid. Oh and those windmills aren't cheap, the UK electricity prices are already the highest in Europe and will only get higher. The debts have to be repaid hey. Then in 15 to 20 years, rinse and repeat. I know it's hard to believe Lies could be told on such a scale but there it is. It will take a few more years for the general public to acknowledge the truth, but they won't want to talk about it, Ego! Now the transition is all about data centers, no point running endless stories about cars that aren't selling or offshore wind sites that are being abandoned. Data centers and Space stuff are the tech darlings, two more huge financial bubbles. Oh and Robots for the home, but that one never really took off. BTW, all those stories you do see about booming EV sales, they are actually Hybrid petrol car sales, gasoline burners with a little electric augment are the new EV. Rebranding.

They estimate 30 thousand of them to power the world.

I still stand by the 90s suggestion of wind mountains, 5000ft high cone structures that spin slowly with huge amounts of inertia.
They would provide stable continous power and last hundreds of years, you could build entire cities in them, forests, suburbs, wildlife zones

Endlessly upgradeable and repairable without needing to be turned off.
20bn each and 50bn of real estate.

You could use them to store renewable power, massive inertia batteries with zero degredation.

Nobody remembers the downsides of nuclear power electrical generation. Too bad for those species with complicated genomes and long lives.
Me, I only got ten plus years left, so I don't care so much what the monkeys are doing.
I'm sure Utopia is in your future.🤣

Coal power stations emit more radiation than nuclear plants.
Its a funny world.

I presume you were referring to accidents.
Its not widely known that the UK constructed the first commercial nuclear power plant and soon after had Europes first nuclear meltdown.

... and yet the cost per kwh of pv solar + battery backup drops by ninety percent every decade. It is already the cheapest form of electricity generation in history. And no imaginable technology will catch up with it for a very long time.

So I will never understand why people don't want cheaper electricity. I guess some people just trust the fossil fuel companies and think they are their friends.

Trust?? I do have confidence the power plants using fossil fuels (along with hydro and nuclear) will continue sending electricity into the grid 24/7. I buy most things from people I don't consider "friends."

Full disclosure: my van relies on solar/batteries to satisfy our electrical needs. Designed for 3 days of cloudy/shade.
