Ebike rack

For the record I spent a long time researching a bike rack. I finally settled on the Atera strada XL. It fits very securely on the tow bar of our Mini Countryman. And comfortably carries my Tero X and my wife’s Como 3.0. We have completed hundreds of miles with it.

It's worked pretty good so far... but now that I got a bike too, I gotta look for a double rack.

If you get a Quikr rack you can add additional racks to it as you need more. I have one and I love it!! Well engineered and quality made.

I have this one. I paid $135 on sale. It's a pain in the butt to install as it uses a bolt to attach it to the hitch. It wobbles a lot unless you use the tie downs. I only go about a mile to the trailhead, so it works for now. I'll upgrade at some point.

I wonder why they say "not for RV use"... and one of the pictures on the linked page shows it mounted on a RV...
 
I have the Mach2 QuikRstuff bike rack and it is RV rated. You can only use:
- the 2" version,
- two bike max,
- using extender, adapters, swing arms or bike covers can damage the rack (void warranty),
- it needs to be a chassis mounted hitch receiver (not a bumper only hitch)
- the distance from the rear axle to hitch pin needs to less than 96 inches

We have had the Hollywood mounted to our vehicle since July, we use it to carry our two, 65+ pound bikes. To date, we have been very happy with the performance; some of the reasons:
- The ramp makes loading/unloading a breeze;
- The tightening mechanism of the rack to the 2" receiver eliminates wobble, vibration, and chatter;
- The rack locks to the receiver, and the support arms which attach to the bike are lockable with the same key;
- When not being used, the rack can be folded vertically, greatly reducing its extension behind the vehicle;
- the rack can be pivoted, while loaded, to allow access to vehicles with a rear-hatch, like our Subaru Outback;
- The support arm, and the three straps which hold the bike wheels to the rack, do an excellent job of securing the bikes, allowing minimal movement.

The rack is pricey, in the range of a Thule, but its 150-pound (68-kg) load rating, ease of use, and secure attachment are worth it for us.

Oh, and it also handles wide tires, we had to retire our old platform rack when I purchased my Bulls Step-thru this year flixvision.

Why not get the same type of carrier that you have now, only in 2 place, they come in Alum and steel, also get the type that has 1/2" bolts to make wheel pockets for the bikes, and use a 4' NO Hook ratchet straps around the wheels and carrier, for added safety, I have used mine for 4+yrs in several hundred miles of rough 4x4 roads and NO problems. ymmv

The rack we have now is made as a motorcycle rack, and as you can see from the picture, is a good bit larger than it needs to be. Also because motorcycles are larger, the dual bikes space them farther apart, increasing the load (or rather leverage) on the vehicle's trailer hitch, which in our case is already cantilevered quite a ways out from the vehicle's frame. I also like the swing up support posts, while recognizing I may have to modify one to connect to her Zugo. It would be easier for her to deal with than all those straps.

As a recently retired engineer, I'm confident that I could design and built a rack as good as good or better and I have the tools to make one, but the materials would probably cost just as much, and I have way too many projects already.
 
i have that silver young electric,
chose it over the cyberrack because i didnt like how the uprights were attached on the cyber,
mine is the one without the ramp but same rack.

my fucare gemini x weighs 90+lbs with all my stuff on/in it,and its very stable even on bumpy back roads.
if you arent a moron you wont have the only problem that seems to be mentioned in the reviews.

people were turning the spring loaded clips that hold the wheel straps backwards and it wasnt holding the bike in......DUH! of course it wont idiot.

spring loaded clips,the straps with notches go around the wheel into the clips,when pulled tight they dont let go till you push down on the spring clip and it releases the belt/strap.

im not sure how humanity always seems to screw simple things up but,they do.

I ended up buying a Rockland 2-bike rack (Amazon) which as far as I can tell is identical to the Young Electric rack (and probably made in the same factory). Easy to assemble, reasonably rigid, though not as rigid as the single rack she was using. Used it for the first time today to take the bikes to a nearby bike path, looks good. I thought I had a pic with both bikes on it, I guess not.

To help with the blocked vehicle license plates, you can use what I do, I bought a vanity license plate with the SAME LETTERING INFO that is on your legal vehicle plate, I then attach this vanity license plate on the bike in plain sight, so I won't loose it, and leave the State Original License plate attached to the vehicle. This is where I got the vanity plates from, that I use on both of my PU's.

I have been stopped for blocked license plate once by our state troopers, once he seen what I had done, he laughed and said that's OK, after he checked everything out.

I had added LED brake/turn signals lights that plugged into my vehicles bumper plug, for the bike rack, so they were not blocked also. Here is more signal lights information I added to the bike rack, double signal lights now.
