Will ebikes really lead the EV revolution?

E-bikes have the potential to change urban transportation and even influence the EV market. They’re efficient, fun, and reduce reliance on cars for short trips. I check archeonis.com sometimes for insights into technology trends and sustainability, which makes me think about how e-bikes fit into larger energy solutions. Infrastructure, like bike lanes and charging stations, will be key to widespread adoption. The combination of exercise, convenience, and environmental benefit is appealing. People underestimate how transformative small-scale tech can be. E-bikes could very well be a gateway to broader changes in mobility.

If there was more consistency in battery packs from one e-bike to the next, this could be a good business opportunity.
I can imagine this model with rental bikes on say for example, the Great American Rail Trail that is 3,600 miles long from Seattle to DC. Battery swapping stations, even if some are like solar powered vending machines in the middle of nowhere, could be placed at regular intervals. Then there would also be hubs with personnelle to rent bikes and maintain them. Anyone could do a section or two between these service stations and even quickly swap bikes for a freshly serviced one. They would be standardized bikes of several configurations with the same components. And it could expand to areas surrounding the hubs. In my area we have Redwood Bike Share. Those are very basic bikes with bluet proof simple components such as roller/drum brakes.
