Wi-Fi issue with all Nyon 1

If you have a Nyon 1 (no matter if the 1GB or 8GB version) and you cannot connect it to your Wi-Fi, you are not alone.
Already heard it from several people and none of my 6 Nyons can connect to Wi-Fi anymore.
Apparently that started on June 1st.
Nyon software version 1.10 for 1GB and 2.10 for 8GB. Have not been able to test it on a Nyon with older software yet.
It appears to be an issue in the Nyon itself, it can find and display Wi-Fi in range, but does not connect.

There is no solution yet, I will keep you posted if I have any update on this.

That is disappointing and not hopeful for a solution. A built-in time limit? Is a reset worth trying?

Out of curiosity I checked my 2020 Nyon and it's still connecting although I don't think anything has been updated for more than a year or two.

Good luck.

The Nyon 2 just got an update of the maps recently. Same with the phone app.

And here is the next strange thing.
The offline maps in the app show the same new bike path as the new map in Nyon 2.
BUT... When the Nyon 1 - with no maps installed - pulled the maps from the phone, it did not show the same new path. So it still somehow pulled other maps, most likely straight from the Bosch server. Luckily I just installed the whole USA except California on my 8GB Nyons.
California is on the 1GB Nyons.

The only way for Bosch to fix that Wi-Fi issue now is to release updated cff2 files for the old Nyons. Then anyone can update it offline using the old diagnostic software.
Or have the dealers update them for all the customers. That's a nightmare.

Maybe Bosch releasea a "light" version of the old diagnostic software to update the Nyon only.
Or they set up a website where customers can update it just like the dealers do over the internet.
I think the latter would be the best.

That interesting and puzzling.

Yes, you are correct about the Nyon 2 map updates. Firmware, not as far as I know.

Just a thought, has your wifi suddenly (June 1st) become 5G only for some reason?

No. It's the Nyon. Nobody I know can connect. And nobody they know. Everyone already tried different phone Hotspot etc.
The Nyon lists the Wi-Fi in range. And it only lists 2.4g

I guess there will be a lot of people now messing with their routers etc until Bosch releases a statement. 🙄

Maybe it is an expired certificate in the Nyon. Have seen that before with other applications that have hardcoded certificates

Or Bosch turned the server off.
Here is what I see in wireshark
