I'm guessing because it's primarily a British company. I've never heard of them. I don't see a single dealer on their USA website. And I guess mainly because I can't find an eBike on their site either. This is an eBike forum. Did I miss something? Search on the USA website shows no result for electric or eBike.
@phillro, I've found the Whyte E-Bikes company website and it appears to be A UK design with a Shimano Steps mid drive system. There are some international distributors and one US distributor. Seems though that most of the action is in the UK and Ireland with the home site links still primarily focused on their non-electric bikes. They have pics and talk about shows in Europe in the next few months. The US site, whyteusa.bike, only offers non-electric bikes from their one California distributor.
It's not unusual for European companies to delay offering some products, particularly electric, in the US until it's well established in the home territory. Perhaps you should call the California distributor at 855-949-8387 and see what they say.
