Why you should consider a custom built ebike

1) You can custom build a better (faster, more powerful) ebike for less money than buying a factory build.
2) You get the bike YOU want. You do not have to settle for someone else's idea of what an ebike should be.
3) You get to pick the motor YOU want. You are not limited to the weak factory powerplants.
4) You will be working with a custom builder who's reputation is only as good as his last build. He has a vested
interest in your happiness and will do everything possible to make your ride a dream come true.
5) All ebikes are cool, but there is nothing like a custom built bike. The pride of design and ownership is a heady combination! It will have you riding longer and more often! You will have jealous friends!
6) Custom builders are not hard to find. Check this and other ebike forums, they often have a page with such
info. If they do not, a post asking for help is usually well received. Or simply Google "ebikes near me", you might be surprised what you find. Ebike builders are popping up everywhere!
7) Ebikes, like all things mechanical, need maintenance. If you buy a box bike, you're on your own, with bike shops charging a surcharge to work on electric. Servicing a factory bike can be expensive. (Bosch, Brose). A custom builder knows your bike and can service it for far less than a factory bike and they are always there for you.
8) Modifying a factory bike for more power, speed or range is difficult if not impossible, and will likely be expensive.

Hi Rick, I was referred by a member on this forum. Would you be able to give me your opinion on installing a Bafang mid drive kit on a Carbon Fiber hard tail or Carbon Fiber Folding Bike frame. I am concerned about the frame's ability to handle the extra weight and torque of the motor. Thanks in advance, Don San Francisco
