Why I chose Rad Power

Getting back into biking after decades away , I completely devoured this great site, checking every single brand, reviews and forums. Thanks, Court!

The US ebike market is lagging behind Europe, but chock full of Indiegogo companies eager to use our upfront money to build new bikes, some of which are very technologically advanced. Too bad some don't exist yet...the best design, unproven by road miles, and solved service issues, are pie in the sky. With my 71st birthday approaching, I want to bike, not wait.

I have a retirement budget with Riese & Mueller tastes. (200 mile capacity double battery road bike, only $8k!) Money like that gets spent on the snowplow, because it makes money. A City bike with a spare battery, under $2k.

All this (free) research boiled down to three companies, Pure Cycles, Juiced, and Rad. All have ( or will soon have) great bikes for my needs. Finding a bike in stock is another story entirely...Rad had the bikes...not every model, but the City I wanted. The others are hard to come by, and promising product in December wouldn't help in WNY.

The other big concern is service. Here, Rad shines above the rest, from your comments. Bikes are similar to mechanical watches...incredibly pleasurable to use when well adjusted, and painful when not. Buying online is great with good service backup, but lousy when you have to wait for a response, especially for you commuters.

In the end, it was an easy choice...updated well designed available bikes, with great service. Looking forward to some great road miles!

So do you have the bike yet or not? Seems like a glowing report for no description of mileage.

A glowing report on what, the bike industry? Just ordered a bike yesterday, and tacked on a spare battery today. I'm going by what I see everyone else saying here about Rad, and their experience with dealing with them. Other maker's sites are full of "still waiting for a response" type posts. That doesn't cut it with me...it's too damn hard to earn it to waste it on unresponsive service.

Maybe I just read too quickly. I read "Rad shines above the rest", but I failed to read "from your comments". Sorry my mistake, I just thought you didn't have the bike yet, but was praising the service.

Rad is a good choice. Great customer service (my experience) and a good value for the price.
