Which one would be best for me?

I am betwixt and between over getting either the Lectric XP or the Sondor Fold X. I am 73 and up until Covid was playing ice hockey three days a week and since March 12 that has stopped. I have a 20 year old Specialized Rockhopper and I want to go electric and have some FUN, which isn’t easy in these times. I live in a semi-rural area and there are lots of country roads and trails to explore. 500 watt motor is good for me and I am pleased with the components on both bikes, although the Lectric seems to be a better value.
I also saw a SDU S500 on Amazon which was very full featured for $1100, but there were no reviews and the company has a website but if you want to contact it you have to go to Facebook or Amazon.

Just curious why do you want a small tire folding bike? I live in a rural area and ride trails and dirt roads. Country roads aren't the smoothest places to ride especially the dirt ones. I find my 29er handles the ruts, roots and gravel much better than even my 26 inch tire bike.

Just my .02 but I’d stay away from buying a bike on Amazon, especially a place without a brick and mortar location.

If you’re used to mountain bikes, my guess is that you will quickly grow out of folding electric. Those bikes are really Design for urban commuters and not the most rugged. Constantly riding on dirt roads may wear out the joints and components relatively fast. There are full frame bikes you can get for $1000 range. It’s not the best motor or components but I think you’ll get more enjoyment out of it than a folding ebike.

Lot of people like the Lectric XP. It is easy to get on and off which is important. Lot of people change it by changing some components since the bike is a very reasonable price. Maybe consider a bike with a suspension fork to even out the ride. Ride1up and Espin have some nice well made bikes that are not expensive. Lot of people like Rad bikes too. To me, folding is not important. The weight of the bike concerns me as well as ease of getting on and off, customer service, name brand components and battery. What is important to you ?

Tough decision and I cannot pretend to know what fits you. I happen to own a fat 20" electric folder, a skinny tire 20" electric folder, a 26" fat tire ebike, and two 26" mountain bikes with electric assist. All but the first one were home conversions, and the 20" folder was cheap, so this represents about $6000 spent on myself over 5 years.

I'd rank the two fat tire bikes as my least favorites. They're just heavy and not as fun to ride. It goes back to the days when I started on balloon tire bikes and graduated to the "English" racer. Even with the motors, the defining nature of the big tire bike is still there. More ponderous in a turn, heavier, slower to accelerate, etc.

They're still great fun, the fat tire bikes, but I find myself grabbing a light weight bike to ride for the fun of riding whereas the fat tire is used to drop off books at the library (and take a 8 mile detour to get home). Sometimes on a warm summer night, a lazy rde on the fat tire around the neighborhood is cool.
