Wheres the controller then!

Hi guys/girls I got this UK restricted 15mph pedal assist only bike. It's a Raleigh e comfort . I opened the grey box on the bike to find just 4 wires that are not attached to anything just taped onto the plastic! How dose this thing work? I can't find a controller anywhere.

Most mid drives have the controller within the drive itself. That looks like one of the older 25.xx volt systems. Very popular system in Europe and Asia. I don't have a any idea what the box contained.

I really want to add a hand throttle as it just pedal assist at moment.

I wouldn't consider it without a wiring diagram. Those are hard, if not impossible to come by. If the PAS is working well you'll get to know it and get used to it. It's very possible there were versions of that bike with throttle, but if you aren't sure you could damage it beyond repair.

Thanks for the help. I have just found out that the 4x wire or at least some are from a throttle that was removed previously.

Could it be as simple as buying a throttle and connecting wires ?

I'm not to worried about breaking it. I like doing this stuff.kind regards,Dave

Keep in mind, IF you Short those wires you can Damage the Controller or Worse !!
