What's your farthest ride on a single charge with a Vado?

"Why isn't that in some user manuals?" I admire the Vado, the righteous heir of the MTB but would never guess such capabilities. One thousand miles ridden, six months on the Vado and it was our TS25 to tell me...

Yep TS25 also turned us on to the 💎 for BLOK display. I got my 👀 on his post. 😎 Watching. Waiting...

It's not in the Vado manual, but my LBS included the spec sheets on the components as well. These features are covered in the shifter's one page fold out that I didn't bother to read. Shame on me.

I'm curious? I got my Vado 4 a couple of weeks ago. Since then I've ridden every day. Most days are 20-25 miles. Today I rode 41 miles with 37% left on the battery. How about you folks? How far have you ridden without recharging the battery?

I ride a lot (10,000 miles annually). Most rides are 40 - 52 miles. I have found that when the battery charge reaches about 40% and mileage is about the same, I am getting about the most out of the battery at the speeds I like to ride (average about 17/18). Obviously terrain, speed, wind and assist level will determine battery life. Many of my rides are at very high altitude -- 8400 ft to 12000 ft. Much of that ride is very steep terrain for 12 miles consuming 85% battery on the ride up. Requiring second battery to get home...

Hey folks. Loving my 5.0. I did a couple rides in a few days apart to the same location and back. 26.5 × 2 = 53 miles. It was a couple miles further on the first ride but I'm not counting that. I have 37% remaining. So, I can potentially do it once more leaving me with 5.5% battery remaining. Averaging about 13.4 mph. So, I'm looking at approximately 80 miles on a single charge. Wind conditions have been relatively mild but the hills remain the same. I never really noticed the display stats before. I was just going by MC and BLEvo. TCD-w is cool. If I could some how manipulate the motor output through the display that would be enough. My settings 18/18, 55/55, 65,65.

@Stefan Mikes . Hey. I finally got the tool set but I'm confused with the instructions. I've never used or been exposed to this tool set. I've watched the video but I can't make out what the guy is doing. The instructions say to set the tool first 2nm and then to 6nm and back to 2 ? Something about pushing the head on both side of the wrench? Not a good instruction video for newbies.

👌. Your instructions are way more newbie friendly, much easier to understand.
☝. His instructions are different and not easily understood. Now I can understand what he's doing in the initial setup. I take it the initial setup isn't really needed?

So here's a question for you battery experts: I ride a lot and have (on this Vado 6) for several years. How will the rider know when/if the battery starts to fail? Is there an alert? Or does the battery not take full charge? Others...? Thanks

Do you use the Mission Control app? It has a set of battery stats and a diagnostic that reports "Battery Health".

Regardless, I built up the first ebikes we had with lithium batteries that would yield a fairly consistent mileage around our very hilly town. As the batteries aged, this slowly dropped. Finally, after maybe 8 years, one battery pack would shut down during a regular ride. Checking it out it seemed that one cell in the battery had weakened enough to drop to the BMS (battery management system) cutoff voltage so even though the pack voltage looked good, the BMS wouldn't allow any power to protect the other cells. As this point we retired the 'homemade' ebikes and bought a pair of Vados.

I suspect that the Vado battery pack will eventually suffer the same fate if I ignore warnings that I'm sure the MC app will deliver.

This is my best effort so far riding in SCV . The Hills wore me out so I had to stop a couple of times to regain my strength. I'm also fasting so no food or water. I started at 100%. I used 33%. Average speed 15 mph. Distance approximately 30 miles. Time for a nap.

😁. Over 2 days. Legs are sore from friction but everything else is good. You have to stand up and give yourself a break if you get sore.

Not on a Vado here, but as @gorse said above, earlier, about riding forever with the motor off... :p

I just ended a self appointed exercise to see how far I could go before charging up again... relying on Level 0 assist, and allowing myself Level 1 (of 5) when I didn’t feel like straining on an incline. (My definition of “straining” would change, ride to ride.)

I hit 234 miles with 3 bars remaining (bike at rest—it would drop to 2 bars while in motion) on the 5-bar gauge. This was accumulated over 18 rides.

I had to abort the exercise today because much to my chagrin I pulled my calf muscle pedaling too hard (on my Bianchi pedal bike) earlier this week. After a day off to rest it, I wanted to ride in today’s gorgeous weather and figured it would be wise to take it easy, ride all in Level 1, and so I broke down and charged up the battery... I’m sure I could have hit 300 at the rate I was going and maybe closed in on 400 if I was extra miserly on Assist.

Level 0 - the medicine ball of biking
