What is different about the Das-Kit geared hub motor?

I am wondering what is the difference between this motor and other geared hub motors. I've read that it has metal gears as opposed to nylon, but I have found little more information regarding this. If my motor stops functioning can I buy a das-kit somewhere else or replace the gears with those of a Bafang? I'm just curious as to what information anyone has in regard to these motors. I have an NCM aspen and so far I love it, but I am concerned that if it quits functioning (motor) then I wan't have a way to power the bike as leoncycle.com doesn't sell motors except in kits for smaller rimmed bikes. I guess I could take the motor off of the wheel and use it on mine and have it respoked if the need should arise.

The motor is a mxus xf15r, limited to 250w. I opened the motor and it had nylon gears, not metal. You should be able to buy a mxus motor, direct replacement :)

I tried a kun ray 350w motor but it did not work properly (it worked but very slow and noisy). It needed a controller upgrade.

What if we mounted a mxus xf15r without the 250W limit?

That is what I wanted to try but they sent the kun ray motor instead of the mxus. My guess is that it wont work either but if anyone tries please comment!

How you sure it's limited to 250W? Cause if you unlock the speed on the display you get 15A max and it becomes more like a 350W nominal motor.

Let us know in 5 years how you feel about the Das Kit when it'll very likely still be running fine. ;)

Hi.Does anyone know what Planetary Gears clutches it needs for a das-kit X15R motor? I want to have a spare in case they break down on my motor.

Thanks. Glad to hear it fits. This is kind of what I'd like to do. If I can pull off 70 miles normal riding, 50ish going fast that really set me up for being able to do anything. If I keep the existing battery that means basically up to 130+ mile range... which might be nice if I ever multi day. 45 km/h.. you must have the unlocked display too? I can't get that with the stock North America setup.

Ur welcome. Unfortunately if you want to reach 40-45km/h you need a display that lets you derestrict the ebike using the secret codes. My ebike was bought from France,i have an L6 display and i used 8088 code to get in the secret menu. Also you have to change the voltage from 36v to 48v.

New upgrade. Led strip lighs on the back with remote control and carbon sticker. :D

Are the LED's under the carbon sticker? I can't see how they are mounted. And did you grind off the rack mounting bosses? I don't see them either. Looks fantastic!

Thanks!! Yes, are under the carbon sticker, I cut the carbon sticker and sticked it over the led strip.I also used a plastic soldering gun : D

Sounds like a lot of work but your effort paid off, the fit and finish look very professional in your photos! I expect you'll get lots of positive comments from other cyclists with those. They are USB powered I assume, do you have to plug them into your battery when you ride or have you rigged up another way to power them?

It took me many hours but in the end it was worth it, and I use a 10k mah battery to power the LEDs and the headlight. :) The battery it's in the bag. I prefer not to use the bike battery for that.

Excuse my ignorance...but what is a carbon sticker and where do you get them?
