What color is best for deterrence in bike locks

This cable might be the sleeper product to get. Would the 3/8" work close enough as I need it to roll up smaller than yours does? On looking more closely, the 3/8" is steel while yours is stainless steel. Does that matter?
I used 3/8" stainless sling for 2 years. It does roll up tighter than the 1/2" one. Mcmaster has a stainless 3/8" sling. The 6' 3/8" SS sling 8942T14 is $65.
Yes stainless is a lot harder to cut than carbon steel. You cut carbon steel to orange with a grinder, it starts flowing away in big blobs. Stainless doesn't melt away like that.
Here is the complete wire rope sling page. https://www.mcmaster.com/slings/wire-rope-slings/
You don't want wire rope, the bolt together loops come unbolted with a $4 wrench from Dollar General. Or a $3 plier. My slings have a crimped eye.
BTW mcmaster answers phone questions with a "we don't sell to individuals". Debit cards over the internet communicate better. They do support the sale. UPS lost a $100 6' pry bar 3 weeks ago, denied the claim, mcmaster replaced the order from their own funds.
Pity mcmaster doen't stock the abus 92/80 lock. I had to order that from Zoro industrial via ebay.

Here's an idea. I see in Indianjoe's post the slings can be made woven. I had a steel shop built that used cable for some of the diagonals, they made woven loops which was interesting. They peel the strands back and make the loop and rewove the cable, couldn't hardly tell where the weave started and ended and no ferrule.

The bugger on the cables for me is pulling the cable through and the ferrule seems to hit everything it comes close to. You could have them make a woven cable. I'd guess nobody is going to understand how it was made and they are not going to stand there and unweave it, it's a bugger to do. Then you could put a coating on the woven parts or complete cable.

mcmaster sells woven eye slings: https://www.mcmaster.com/3550T84 $45 for 3/8"x6'. Not stainless steel, just EZburn carbon steel.
Paint gets removed by the sling eye. I repaint bare spots with krylon spray once a year. Aluminum frame, no rust. I painted the 3/8" SS sling with handle dip rubber to prevent scratching, but it wore off in a year. $11 a can from mcmaster. https://www.mcmaster.com/9560T2 I used blue.
