Watt Wagons GPS and New Display

I asked about the display recently. Huge chip shortage delaying things. Maybe a couple months or more....

$50/60 for displays some people prefer and are putting on their bikes. You can search Cuz Vinny posts and get right to that info.

I'm going to order one for just in case I drop the bike and break the display.

It is the same display Cuz Vinny is using. 1)Click on his name/handle then, 2) click on his name/handle one more time when that comes up, 3) then click on his recent posts, then 4) search for where he talks about display, then 5) look back through his shared info on display name and where to get it.

But, hold off a bit for now, as Cuz is checking to make sure that display seems fully compatible with the Archon controller.

Edit: One of the most recent places Vinny spoke of it and named it is in the post linked in my post #7 below Rome.

I’ve got the same display and it’s working for me.

Nice Bruce. I wanted to order one for a spare in case I damage one - just haven't gotten it done.

Vinny's point of interest was if it delivered full power of the controller if I understood correctly. I'll look for post in case you didn't see it from the horses mouth.

Edit: His post #34

I did see that earlier today. I've set my 9 levels to emulate 750W at PAS 2, 3, & 4, 1000W with the same, and 1500W with the same.

I can feel the difference in PAS and power in all 9 settings.

Someone else stated in that thread that the only compatible display with the Archon X1 controller is the DPC 18. That other displays may work but you may not be getting full power. I asked them to clarify this as my bike has the 500C display and works perfectly fine.

Pardon for landing on your thread.
Not anytime soon, hockey player Trevor got his bike with big display.
Watching MLB now NFL is on today too.
NHL I gotta check my Samsung TV if I can get it.
No NHL right now. Oct she fires back up again. NHL game center app is how I watch my Tampa Game Lightning win back 2 back Championships.

The DPC 18 display (at least the version made for the Ultra) maps 10 PAS levels to 5 Eco and 5 Sport. It's a half assed thing Bafang did, presumably to allow for 2 torque sensing recipes (Eco and Sport). If you program the PAS torque sensing on the stock controller the changes will only apply to Sport. I don't believe Eco can be programmed.

The 500C is for BBSHD and non-torque sensing Bafang motors. There is no Eco or Sport mode, just PAS 1-10, so if you program the stock controller, you'll get exactly what you program, because there is no "Eco" mode and the display allows for PAS 1-10.

So the only issue when you put the 500C on the Archon X1 is that you can only access the Sport PAS. The problem is that the default Archon progamming (at least on my bike) maps PAS 1-5 to Eco PAS 1-5 and PAS 6-10 to Sport 1-5. So what you get when you put the 500C on the Ultra is Sport 1-5 (which is really PAS 6-10) mapped to 10 levels of PAS which is too much PAS! It's not really "incompatible", I think all you really need to do is re-program "Sport" so that it properly spans PAS 1-10 instead of 5-10.

This is a great explanation. Thank you. Knowing this now, I'll just wait until the new WW displays get manufactured.

This seems to contradict what @pushkar has said regarding PAS levels where levels 1-5 are torque sensing and 6-10 cadence. My understanding was the difference between Eco and Sport is the wattage, but the PAS levels can still be adjusted 1-10 in either mode.

I don't know exactly what recipe they are programming for Eco and Sport on the Archon X1. I only use Eco 1-5 as Sport 1-5 is too powerful. Regardless, whatever recipe they are programming Sport 1-5, that's what I believe you'll get for PAS when you put a BBSHD display on the Ultra. I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to program Sport on the Archon X1 to whatever you want assuming you have the programming dongle. That was my point, basically that if you put a BBSXX compatible display on the X1 it should be OK, but you'll want to reprogram Sport.

That’s what I thought. So unless you reprogram you lose some of the efficiency because your basically in sport mode all the time.

Innotrace has the above two displays on their website. Wonder if these would work with the controller and if we can get them.

Since the 500 comes out of the box with 5 PAS levels, I would think 1-5 is based on what you've programmed. On the 18, 1-5 is Eco and the controller is already set at what's been programed.

I know I've done some reprogramming on my bike, but I know with certainty that my bike does not feel as if it's in what was previously Sport mode.

You can change the 500C to 9 PAS levels in the advanced settings. I had mine at 5 levels but have since changed to 9. Unfortunately I haven’t ridden the bike yet at 9 levels as I’m waiting for some crank arms.

These are the same displays the eggrider uses, with different programming of course. The biggest complaint I've heard from eggrider users is the display is small and hard to read with sunglasses, or at least polarized sunglasses, not sure, I have no personal experience. I do have experience with is the M600 display which is also small and also hard to read with sunglasses, not my cup of tea. At least with the eggrider display you can pair it to a smartphone, would be nice if these innotrace displays can do that as well, not sure.

I just discovered that T-Mobile has a GPS tracker for $5/month that I may end up signing up for to keep with my Hydra. Probably one of the better choices since it runs off of one of the main cell networks.
