Washing an e-bike

I have an Ebikes with an external downtube mounted battery. Is it better to leave the battery on while washing. My system is Shimano Steps E6000. When the battery is off the vertical pins that plug into the battery are totally exposed. As I am writing this I’m thinking maybe just a damp sponge at the battery/controller interface as well as the removable display. Also any suggestions for a bike stand that will support the weight of an e-bike? Thanks.

There are gaskets that help seal the connections when the battery is on the bike; that allows you to ride in the rain. So leave the battery in place. Otherwise, just wash as you would a normal bike. For a repair stand I would recommend a Park Tool stand such as the PSC-10.2. It costs a bit more, but they are solid and replacement parts are available.

You don't need to buy gaskets; what I was saying is that the battery and/or cradle is designed to seal the connections when the battery is in place.
