Been reading and watching EBR videos for a few months (thanks for all the great posts), and ready to pick up an ebike. I have a regular bike i ride right now. Definitely not an easy task but should I hold out for the new line of motors and batteries (Bosche, Brose) to come out before I get my first ebike?

There might be a possibility of saving some money on a (new) 2019 model once the 2020 models are announced. I bought my 2017 Gazelle bike in March of 2018 in a closeout sale and saved a bundle.

This is a good point. Definitely would love a great deal as well. Hmm keeping up with the latest tech or great deal, pretty common debate with electronics. :p I think for my purposes a sale on a 2019 makes sense, since I'm looking for a class 1 to mainly use for commute and light recreation trails. Been reading that these new motors are aimed for mountain biking.

My vote: a very emphatic heck no! That's one of the reasons I ride a less expensive bike (RAD). If something cool does come up, I'm going to loose a lot less money getting rid of that to make the jump than I would on a higher end bike.

That, and I've been updating that bike as required for the last 18 months, while waiting for that cool new option to come out that I just can't like without!

The temporary fix philosophy, I like it.

I know I'm very happy with the changes made on my 2019 RadCity and am glad I have it rather than the 2018. On the other hand I wasn't looking last year so obviously I don't have any buyers remorse. Quite honestly I was seriously considering another bike prior to the RadCity but that bike was out of stock and wasn't going to be in stock till next spring. I wanted to ride now since we have a lot of great recreational days left in my locale. I bought the RadCity and have no misgivings about not waiting till spring. My brother in law and I went in together and we bought two RadCity bikes together which saved us each $100, got a deal from the local Velofix franchise which saved is $50 each on assembly, and we avoided an always potential price increase that a new model year sometimes brings. With the uncertainty of another year end Chinese tariff increase of 10% and how that might affect pricing, all signs pointed to purchasing now rather than for any unknown enhancements that may come in 2020.

I don't have an ebike yet, but I've often found that if you keep waiting for the "best" of nearly anything, you'll never get it. There's always something better coming down the road (literally,in the case of bikes). If you find one that suits your needs and budget now, I'd say go for it.

If you want a Bosch powered eBike, I would really try to wait for the 2020 models. Bosch's new motors are lighter, you don't have to trade off torque to get speed, and they don't fight you if you pedal faster than they can assist - at least that's what the reviews so far have said.
